Face it, it is human nature to look at physical aspects in a person before getting into a relationship. How important is this issue to women? What about having a relationship with an overweight guy? Is there a chance or a chance in hell?

Update: I should ask another question; how big is too big? Or is personality more important?    10 months ago

You're stuck thinking that men and women think the same way. With men, yes we are very visual creatures, so an obese woman is unattractive. BUT women think differently... they seem to be more interested in the way that you make them FEEL! My advice is to learn to be confident, almost arrogant (not quite though) and learn to be humorous. I've known of several guys who are big, but still get tons of hotties, all of the time. The one thing they have in common is that they are fun to be around, funny and always laughing, but at the same time, comfortable in their own skin, and confident. And I don't think there is such a thing as too big, you've just gotta find the right type of gal. Make her laugh and you'll go far. Hope this helps, Kyle

sexwiseman Yep, as you say, many bigger guys getting the hotties, but again, I would say more bigger guys not getting any! And yea, cause I wasn't use to being overweight, of course, it had an impact on my confidence level! :) - 10 months ago

I know a 300 pound man who is able to get dates because he has a lot of life experience (40) and a lot of virtue and is also a very good friend. When your a guy your allowed to be overweight. Overweight men are not judged as much as overweight woman. If a guy says he can't find a girlfriend because of his weight he's making excuses for himself. It's 100% possible for guys.

It all depends. If a guy is in shape, I don't mind if he's chunky. As long as he's able to walk without being all out of breath and like play fun games that require physical activity, then I don't care. I want to be able to have fun with a guy. To me, some of the most fun stuff requires the ability to move around easily enough. Personality is most important to me. If your chunky and in well enough shape, I couldn't care less, but if a guy is over weight and out of shape well then yes, it would matter to me.

I can deal with a guy who's "thick" or "stocky", but not overly fat. 20--30 pounds overweight isn't really a problem. But if he has a double chin or man-breasts, that would be a turn off.

I think overweight guys have a chance with girls. Guys are more strict when it comes to appearance. All girls are different, some may be attracted to big guys, but it's more important how you make her feel as a person.

As a mature female who has dated both bigger guys and fairly thin/athletic men, I have to say there are things about both types that are absolutely lovely. My current boyfriend is sort of a health nut, which is a great motivator, but it took him a long time to accept my extra weight. My pudginess usually wasn't an issue with other, larger guys, but things beyond their body type made the relationships impossible. Overall, I think overweight guys can be extremely attractive, just as I think my current boyfriend is adorable. It is all about working with what you have--confidence and an awesome personality are always great assets. :)

I personally don't care much about how much a guy weighs, but that's just me. I like a guy with some meat on him but if I guy is like more than just a lil over weight and is like 500 pounds then he should work out or something cause it just isn't healthy to be that much overweight. I have never dated a skinny guy before even though I am skinny myself, I just prefer a guy with meat on their bones. I care more about the personality of a guy than their looks. So there is a chance for overweight guys to find a great girl out there. My ex and still best friend is like 240 and I'm only 106 but I didn't think he was fat and ugly or anything cause I just saw how great his personality was. And I think he is attractive too especially in swimming trunks or when he don't have a shirt on. Now days people think weight is such a big deal and so many people think it ugly to be even a lil overweight and they think being a skinny lil stick person is attractive but I don't think being skinny is attractive, I think being skinny is un attractive.

Really depends on the girl. Some girls like guys with meat on them. Honestly, personality is NOT the first thing we look at (girls and guys alike). The initial physical attraction is what draws people to each other unless you're friends with someone already and suddenly develop feelings BECAUSE of their personality but that's a whole other issue. It's true though, that overweight guys have a whole lot better chance to find someone than a fat girl. I've said this before, guys have the advantage of being THE GUY, use it, approach girls, there are girls for you. Unless you're insanely obese, then in that case you might have problems. I can't lie, 300lbs guys aren't appealing and if this is your case instead of dwelling on it and sinking yourself in a Cheeto and chocolate cake depression that will only aggravate the problem, do something about it and loose a little weight. Work out, eat healthy, tone up :) But if it's just like 15-20lbs and you're tall and weigh like 210lbs then it's not a big deal. Plus...do you have a cute face? That helps and confidence as well.

Also...don't rule out dating fellow overweight girls. They need some lovin too :D

kbmonday That is only a feminine thing. A guy knows in the first 3 seconds, regardless of how long you've been friends. Don't assume Men and Women think similarily. - 10 months ago

Overweight guys have better chances of finding love than overweight girls. It's easier for guys because in most magazines they have these posters of skinny, beautiful women and that's how most guys want their girls to look. You don't see many magazines that make men self-conscious of their bodies. So lets face it, there aren't as many physical standards for guys. Girls are more lenient when it comes to relationships, we love guys with personality. So yes overweight guys have a chance in the world of love. Hope this helped :)

kbmonday It's becasue Men are visual creatures. Women are more concerned about how the man makes them FEEL, so that's why there are no standards in a mag... ie can a mag model make you feel anything? For a man it can, for a woman not as likely. - 10 months ago

Well honestly If you are 20-30lbs pounds over weight it's no big deal really if the girl really likes you. Anything more than that she is going to be scared that you could hurt her. I hope you understand.

However I do want to know what kind of girls are you attracted to? I am 5'3, 118 lbs. I have big guys always wanting to get with me. I think guys are really shallow when it comes to that and they always run for the prettier slimmer girl. Girls are not always like that so you have a great chance! As long as you open your mind and heart to finding someone new. Their is a person for everyone, you just have to find someone that is a perfect match for you. Oh and by the way being overweight is not a disease!! Go to the gym and work out man...you could find cuties at the gym too!

If he has taken the time to address your question then I'd be inclined to say that he does still care for you. After all, you did spend five years together hence he even says that it is good to hear from you.

. On the flip side of the coin, he is a lawyer so perhaps it is all just an act and a game.

Question though --- Is he the only lawyer in your city? You said you "had to call" and I'd agree with Lesae, the no-contact policy would help you heal as you sound like you may be still confused about his feelings for you. If he truly cared or wanted to continue a relationship he'd pick up the phone and call.

Chances are always there. And as people say, what type of overweight are we talking about here? I"m only 5'8 and when I was 22 I went from being 145 to 170. Only 25 pounds, but I saw myself once in a pic, and I couldn't recognize myself. As I mentioned in another post, some girl came up to me and said something like, you kind of look cute, but you're too chubby for me. That's when I said, F this, time to get back in the gym....I must say, I always had more dates when I was in better shape. I think is because when I was fatter, I also lost confidence; when you're looking slimmer, you feel more confident.....

kbmonday I'm sure it was the confidence. I know bigger guys who are completely comfortable in their skin, and they are Mac Daddies dude. All about the personality and where you are going in life. Kudos though, I notice we comment/answer many of the same questions - 10 months ago

How overweight are we talking here? What kind of fat are we talking about? I haven't had a real hard time picking up women lately and I'm about 20-30 lbs overweight, but my overweight and your over weight may be different. I'm about 6 feet tall 215 lbs and used to be a weight lifter and such. When you look at me you can still tell I have mucsle, just with a layer of fat over top now, i.e I carry it reasonably well ( as good as you can carry fat I guess) The good thing is that women are less likely to care about things like that than men are as long as you have a good personality. Granted, there still needs to be some kind of sexual attraction there, but they are less likely to take that into as a big problem than a man.
