Yes, whatever you don’t want your partner doing to you , needs to be the same boundaries as you as well, so yes it’s emotional cheating , you are investing time into someone else over your partner
It definitely counts as cheating. Just because there is nothing physical doesn't mean diddly. You could be emotionally attached to someone else.
That can cause your actual relationship and partner to suffer since your mind is lusting after someone else.

Honestly, not being able to communicate itself is a problem added to whatever else is going on that you are venting about.
If you are truly just venting and there is no emotional connection more than like talking to a friend, then it is cool in my opinion.
You can't count everything people do as cheating. If people don't have any outlets for their feelings, they are going to end up actually cheating with someone.
