In reality, can the popular guy fall for the unpopular girl?

Question

I'm just wondering since that's what many movies put out there to girls. And when I mean popular, I mean the very well-known guys in campus. He could be the MVP of basketball, quarterback of football, or you know the party boy. The guy everyone knows. And when I mean unpopular girl I am talking about the one not everyone knows. People know her but they don't necessarily notice her and know who she is and such. The average girl. She doesn't have to be nerdy. just average and not so popular.

Is it possible in real life? If it happened to you, please tell me. I'd like to know your story. :)

Yep! well in my story what had happened was i became friends with the popular girls as they were really nice to me until there was a girl in that group that hated me a lot so they ditched me, they made fun of me, teased me and made me feel bad. But i didn't care and started hanging out with a couple of boys and a specific girls I did everything with them but i hated the popular crew both the girls and guy, i hated the popular as i thought the popular guys were show offs, cocky and who thought every girl liked them, all the girls used to love them BUT NOT ME i used to always get annoyed by them, i used to ignore at them and roll my eyes at their stupid lame tricks that they used to show off and I always used to talk about how much i hated them I didn't realized that by doing this they tried to come closer to me even more, they would send me notes all the time which i always ignored, they would stand close to me (i got really pissed off), I would ignored them when they wanted to talk to me i even got a love letter which i thought was a prank (i found out it wasn't later), i would always be partnered with them & as i hated them i would always have fights and argument with them and get ANNOYED a lot I don't know EVEN KNOW WHY, THEIR PRESENCE WANTED ME TO RIP MY HAIR OFF and i got more and more attention and the popular girls hated me even more.

I then moved to a new country where a few months later, I found out by my friends of my old school that all the girls in my school just used me for popularity (i was actually nor popular i was knew a lot of people because my friends kept changing) and also that Aaron had left a note inside my locker on my last day (sadly i never knew what was written there because i guess i didn't see it and i was to busy with other things) I also found out they weren't annoying me i was getting annoyed, they were trying to get close to me because they knew i hated them and also i found out that the popular guys Aaron and Darren actually had a crush me O_O

I don't wanna sound cocky but, although I wasn't popular, a ton of guys thought I was gorgeous, cute and REALLY REALLY JUST DAMN HOT! Also I had a split personality, I'm rude at times but when I'm nice, I'm really sweet, sweeter than most girls. I was never taken seriously by those times especially from guys who knew me kinda better because just of the stupid grudges. I deserved better in the past. Anyway, yes this guys he is AMAZINGLY HOT, most guys admire him and most girl even the popular ones have fallen for him. We've never had classes together from Grades 8-10, but he has seen me around of course from time to time lol! Finally in Grade 11 I "transformed" and had a class together. Yeup, I've had his attention alright especially from other guys. When other guys even the other popular ones found out he's really crushing on me, they like backed off. He's soccer vice-captain and his friends would sometimes encourage me to go see his games, even wrestling. I decided I was interested as well but was too shy. I was a little shy back than as well. He would always say hi to me and give me the sweetest smile and I would always return it. We like almost got together until I decided to switch schools because I was a little bit weak. Oh well, but I found another guy whom I actually truly like now. =) ; Lastly, I saw him at the grad ceremony he just looked at me not saying a word. I was a little sad yet happy to see him again. I felt it was our last goodbye together. =(

In reality most popular guys aren't willing to give up or ruin their "cool boy" image or status I would per say. It's very rare I tell you. But it seems the guy that has fallen for me was willing to.

Here is my outtake on the subject. I am currently in 7th grade and am totally unpopular. And the popular guys in my grade are jerks, so I'm not too upset that they don't like me. But I remember back in 6th grade there was this boy, a grade older than me who I totally fell for. He was really hot, popular, and athletic. I was head over heals. We met officially at the basketball camp that was available during the summer. I was in sixth grade, so I couldn't actually play yet, but I loved it. Don't get me wrong, I am totally a nerd. I have straight A+s and always have, but I am also a jock. I played on JV volleyball and Varsity Basketball this year. And for the longest while I was sure he liked me, I mean that's always how they showed it in the movies. But when I actually started to understand his character more, I realised that he was not all I cracked him up to be. He was selfish and conceited, though not as much as the popular boys in my grade. He also cared little for the disdain of others. So I guess that my point is that even though it didn't work out for me, it is possible. As long as the guy you like is not a selfish jerk.

I know far more popular guys who've fallen for unpopular women than popular women who've fallen for unpopular guys. I know both sexes can be shallow and worry about what people think, but it's clear than most guys do not care. And the reason why guys are more open minded about unpopular women or less intelligent women etc is due to an inbuilt trait that gets slammed instead of praised - they think with their dick! Haha. Whatever they see as attractive on the outside, they'll give it a chance and often fall for the personality later. In fact it's a turn on for guys to have a girl who's a bit different to the norm.

However, with popular women, this is nowhere near as often. Most women get hung up about a man's social status, reputation, popularity, integrity (well, how his integrity appears to the be to the world, more than his real integrity). If a man's reputation has been damaged badly, even if she finds him physically attractive and knows he's a much more decent person compared to someone with his reputation still intact, she'll go for the most popular. She wants to feel proud of her man and parade him. She wants other women to be jealous and know they can't have him. It makes her feel worth more. Most men only get like that about a women's looks lol. Not their reputations. Trust me.

Yes, of course. I could say that i'm kind of a popular guy, and i really do not fall for popular girls for a few reasons; 1. The popular girls are players, play hard to get, and in the end are not intrested in long-term relationships. 2. They are usually selfish and they have no other life than proving themselves to the clique and being as average (boring) as they can. 3. The reason why often the popular girls are found to be more attractive is because they use so much makeup because of social pressure. 4. The popular girls cheat a lot because, well, they are popular. 5. Popular girls do not tolerate your true personality, since if you're a bittest weird it can hurt their social empire. 6. Guys don't really like the over-the-top Megan Fox-type supermodels. Why? you ask. Because you feel bad being around one of those because you feel that you are lesser than them, and also, because sectretly guys have a type of perfect girl in their mind that some other would find unattractive. This is because there is no universal beauty standard; for example, i like kind of shorter, cute not-so-busty girls with green eyes, not busty tall blondes with pale blue eyes. 7. Don't worry, there is always a guy who likes your kind of girl.

Why not? there's a million things that can happen in reality. A forty year old man can fall for a thirteen years old girl. A twenty six year old woman can fall for a fifteen year old boy. If you're talking likely, it's not a norm for that to happen. MOST people in school go for someone their status, sorry to spill the truth. Even if they did, they would most likely hide the fact as they wouldn't want to reveal their crush to their high reputation friends.. think about it. So even if they were attracted to unpopular, there's a small chance they would show it. But like I said, anything can happen. Everyone has their own type and maybe, unpopular girls are lucky enough to have the popular guy go for them. there's some popular humble ass guys out there who are total sweethearts and there's some bitchy ones who go for them supermodels. I, myself, I guess you can say is a pretty popular girl. At least as a popular girl who has a variety of guys I choose from if I wanted to, I would say I would go for them thoughtful clever nerds because at least for me, I find them quite loyal and charismatic. My popular friend on the other hand, goes for those jocks in basketball. Funny story, we went on a double date with our exes and it was um, not pleasant. So in conclusion, unpopular girls may be lucky, you may be not. Everyone has their own type. that is why they are movies... of course it is possible. the MVP of the football team is still a person, and so is the shy unpopular girl. I am only a junior in high school, so I haven't really seen much stuff like that happen.. but personally I am friends with everyone weather they are popular or unpopular and the girl who I like (90% sure she likes me back) is really popular. popularity is just a word. once you get to know someone for who they are, and not judge them based on what their "status" is it's a whole new ball game

i was a good girl christian in high school...i drank but nobody knew about it cause I hid it lol but I was a very good girl no sex no parties only work and church and school...

i dated the drummer of the school band on and off for 5 years...and band is a big deal at my old school...

he was the partier everybody knew him and loved him...and I was unlucky enough to get him lol he was a jerk in the end

anythings possible but in real life there are obstacles that the movies ignore.  the popular guys friends will tease him and/or the girl (sucks but its true).  his parents might even tell him not to date her if they are shallow and worried about his popularity (this happened to a friend of mine in high school).  in movies the guys are much more willing to break out of their social molds than most guys are in real life.   but sure it can happen.  love conquers all.

Happened to me.  I was way into my books, kept to a small group of friends, was valedictorian but definitely not popular.  He was every girl's dream, very popular, funny, witty, etc.  Guys loved him and girls loved him more.  Heck, even the teachers loved him.  We sat close together in classes and got to know each other; he said he found me interesting, not like the other girls, wanted to go out, etc.  But ultimately, I was not interested and couldn't think of him as anything more than a friend.  So yes, it does happen.

Happened to me. I was the girl who everyone knew, but no one knew about...make sense? I don't think I'm ugly or anything. I'm just shy and not super social and out there. I was also a goody two shoes. Did everything I was supposed to, didn't drink and party in HS. My husband had graduated long before me...6 years to be exact, but he was definitely the high school stud. He tells me I'm gorgeous, which any man tells his wife and I do get hit on a lot but what girl doesn't yah know? And he also says it was my "goodness" that attracted him to me. And since being with me, it's made him a better person. But yeah, it's definitely possible for it to happen. In most cases it probably won't. Teenagers, even young adults, are more concerned with how they look to the world instead of just being themselves and not caring what other people think.

The most charismatic guy in my school that everyone loved really liked me. And I'm supppper shy and by no means popular. Thing was..i didn't like him! So that of course didn't happen. But it was obvious that he had a "type" that I fell into. The only other two girls I know he really liked (his ex and another) were both just like me. From being introverted but quietly confident, to being creative, to having long dark hair...i just happened to be his type. I think if you are this popular guys type, and he isn't so shallow as to care if your not as popular as him, it can absolutely work!

One of the girls that interested me the most in high school was exactly what you're describing. She didn't look conventionally stunning but there was just something about her that I adored. She was sweet and kind and pure. I'm not going to lie, I liked the popular girls too, but I didn't overlook the mousy ones either. :)

This SUPER popular guy likes me even though I'm quite unpopular. I am a little weird but I'm also very loving. I'm okay at sports (recently restarted) but there are athletes who are better than me and more attractive.
I think he noticed me because he saw me looking at him one day because he pulled the strings on his sweater all the way and I though it was funny. Then, after noticing, he tried to be funny directly to me.
I think it's possible but I'm still in shock. Like, when he talked to me it was surreal. Still is kinda surreal. :O

I think it would depend on if she makes herself be noticed by the guy. Regardless of all the different factors, people don't choose who they fall for. So if they fit, then sure its possible.

It happened to me. This might not count because I was in 7th grade, but there was this new kid, Allen, everyone just fell in love with him. (of course he was cute) I wasn't that well known. Well after like a week of being smothered by the pretty girls in school, I would see him looking at me time to time and when I looked back he would smile(: Then at one of the football games(I was a cheerleader) he had one of the really popular girls come up to me and ask if I would go out with him. At first I hesitated and told her to give me a minuet to take it in, A cute popular boy asked ME out!, she left for a minuet and when she came back on I was on a water break, I told her I would like him to ask me out in person. So after the game he came up to me and asked me out. I didn't hesitate this time when I said yes. He gave me a sweet little hug( no kiss of course, we just started dating ;] )

I'm not the best with big openings, so I'll start simple. Hey. You are here for the same reason I was a long time ago. So when I was in ninth grade, (I skipped eighth) There was this guy next door, and he was the most popular at his school. One year younger than me, you know, good age. We were absolute best friends. We had the same convos that sexual inept girls in high school would have (lol.) We would talk about crap like that and he always teased me about stupid things. (And is it weird we had both been in each others bed rooms?) Anyway, one day we talked about my life at school, and he didn't know I was one of the most unpopular girls in my school. (In a lot of peoples opinions the prettiest though, weird right?) He didn't care. At all. So this proves an unpopular girl can become the absolute best friend of the most popular guy in his school.
