okay so first of all. I am overweight, I'm 5'5" and weigh 175. I do want to go slow and stay healthy yes. I just heard the south beach diet works good. so what do people recommend? I haven't really read about the diet. i know you cut out sugars, etc. so you basically just eat vegetables, meats, low fat cheeses etc? any help or anything would be great! THANKS
The most important thing with any way you try to lose weight is not eating outside.. No restaurants what so ever..and only drink water.. no exceptions.. I mean.. if you are very serious about getting in shape, then you gotta be strict about this rule..
Not eating outside increases you chances of getting healthy by such a high percentage.. it will surprise you.. and because you make your own food everyday, you will be more satisfied when eating it.. it doesn't mean you need to cook elaborate things.. keep it simple.. for example.. I put vegetables and milk and strawberries in a blender and drink it.. its complex carbs and gives me lots of energy for the workouts.. and after workouts.. protein and fruit drink and every other day.. solid protein like chicken.
And no juices or gatorate or anything except water.. no matter what.. and no excuses like gatorate gives me vitamins.. its just not worth it.. you get your daily vitamins and electrolytes from the fruits you are supposed to eat anyway.. and water is for hardcore people.. and cold water actually makes your body work and burn off some calories just by drinking it.. and it keeps your pipes clean which makes your skin and nails look better and more radiant and eyes whiter, muscles more hydrated, hair look healthier, minimize wrinkles dramatically.. so you see all these benefits of water? its a very simple thing to do.
One last thing: any amount of exercise is never enough.. this is coming from an athletes perspective but even for people who are trying diets or wanting to lose a few pounds like you, restricting yourself to "20 mins running" is not advisable and any restrictions shouldnt be there..
Waking up early. lets say 6.. drinking 1 liter of cold water.. and doing 15 to 20 mins of workout will dramatically increase your metabolism.. and eat a protein breakfast right after that.. but no eating before working out in the early morning.. this will help you keep motivated through out the day..and anything else you add to that during the rest of your day will increase your fat burn exponentially.. the more you add, the more better it is for you.. If you don't do the morning workout, then the workout you do in the afternoon or whenever will only give you normal calorie burn.. An example of a morning workout is abs. and jump rope... and in the afternoon or whenever for the rest of the day, anything else you do like running will again exponentially improve fat burn.
Just some tips. =).. the morning workout one has really helped me get into the shape I want.. the biggest problem I had a while ago was cutting the fat.. I already had muscle and shape but no definition.. and that trick helped me get it.
I went on the southbeach. it was easy a the start and I lost 8 pounds real quick, but it got too hard and I gave up and gained most of it back. my friend did it and she stayed on it too long and ended up fainting loads and became deficient in loads of nutrients. she's still on supplements to fix it. this is just my experience of it. I reccomend weightwatchers, it takes longer but the results are lasting, I lost 2 and a half stone in 9 months with them and I've pretty much kept it all off too. good luck.
eat 5 small meals a day. you can eat whatever you like but a very small portion of it. drink only water with all meals. no soda or juice. no snacks at all. exercise everyday. for at least an hour. and count calories. try eating no more then 2,ooo to start with and gradually decrease that amount. I've done this and everyone keeps telling me how skinny I've gotten.
These are the foods needed for your body to properly loose fat not water and to keep your current body working in good order, this is a proven method of loosing fat and keeping off providing your giving your body the right nutrients it a long read but worth it :)
Well I did the south beach diet ;) It worked at first, but then after a couple of months, I think 4 or 5. After losing about 3 kilo in all that time. It may work for you tho^^ I don't eat egs or poetato's anymore xD I had to eat way to much omlets and I couldn't eat poetatoes so now I don't want to anymore xD
