I have lost 30 pounds in the last month, mostly due to losing my appetite from depression and stress. I do eat, but most of the time I eat like a bird. I think my stomach has actually shrunk, so I feel full after only eating a little food. My weight loss is not a bad thing I guess, I was 291, now I'm 261 and feeling a lot better. I still go to the gym and work out, so I'm pretty sure it was just fat lost and not muscle mass. I think that if you are intentionally starving yourself to lose weight, then you need to seek professional help. If your lack of appetite is caused by some other issue, then it is a different story.
I think its disgusting -- I'd leave someone if I taught they where doing that to themselves - I wouldn't want to be with someone who had those kind of mental issues
It's not so much a mental issue I'm just too damn fat.. - 5 months ago

Question Asker
Do you know how hard I tried before with exercise? I gave that up because it wasnt working for me or my body.... - 5 months ago
Answerer
Well I know I'm being hard on you - but exercise isn't meant to be easy - the easy option is to go to McDonald's and ordering a McCholesterol with extra grease
if you push yourself for a year - you'll have 50 more to thank yourself for making that decision - exercise gets easier as you go - it won't happen overnight - but it won't get easier as you get older either
exercise and giving up bad foods is the hard option - the one you'll want to quit
but where does the easy option get you? - 5 months ago

Something I haven't done in a while is rock climbing - not sure where you live - but it would be a worthwhile solo trip
if the lack of emotional support and fast results was the main reason for you quitting exercise - this is the answer -you would get massive support from the instructors for believing in yourself and showing the effort needed
its like that old cliche - reaching the top of the mountain except this time you actually would be - you would see that result on your first day - 5 months ago

i heard that if you starve yourself for so long you do loose the weight but once you start eating again you gain more then what you lost cause of something with the body and what it was loosing while you weren't eating.
I think you should be yourself starving yourself is bad . I tried that is bad but my friends always stood up for me .although allot of girls are skinny their organs might not be healthy so don't be somebody else just exercise . GOOD LUCK!
It doesn't really help a girl lose weight it just eats away your body tissue then goes to the fat and it will make your body look terrible afterwards the best thing to do is watch what you eat and drink lots of water and exercise
I've done it! And I lost 30 lbs in a 3 months. Then went off to college and started eating regularly again . and that's when it really started to stick to me. My body was in shock and thought it might happen again . so it held on to as much of the food as it could.
well tbh how to do you think anorexic people get so skinny. of course in the long run you loose weight are you considering it. be honest . if you are make sure you take multi vitamins, drink fiber sure in your water and if you feel yourself going to far confide in somebody it can develop into a very serious. very real life long disease. please let me know your thoughts on the diet. are you considering it etc?

you don't eat so your body thinks that there is a famine or something going on so it stores food as fat instead, so you actually "gain weight" in first few days. (also studies has shown that there is an increase of diabetes of those who skip out on breakfast.) basically eventually you will get tired and you body will need energy so then it will start to use that fat as energy, but it's not healthy as it also needs other nutrients. (also you could form an ulcer in your stomach as there's nothing in it to eat, so it basically eats itself)
so the thing is.eventually you will "lose weight" but not the healthy way as your muscles also deteriorate, you will be tired and could get fainting spells.look at those shows where they ask to sponsor some kid in africa. they are skinny but their bellies are bloated, that is because your body "cannibalizes" it self looking for protein that is in your muscles and when there is no more it there is capillary leakage into the stomach cavity so in the end you are not healthy and still no "skinny".
to actually get rid of the weight it takes quite a while.to a point where your body could get used to it and start to actually reject food. (there have been cases where some people tried this and fell into anorexia, and when they realized how bad it was, tried to go back they had trouble with eating and had to be hospitalized.this type of thing could lead to bulimia)
so that's the long terms effects.but what if you only wanna stave yourself for a few days? well that's the "yo yo diet" as they like to call it.where if it works.it will only last for a few days and then your body will regain whatever it had before.
in short.don't do it. you must eat, just have small portions, and more veggies and less fried stuff and try to exercise.
Reading some of the comments, saying that you have tried exercise but for long? thing is even with intense workouts it takes more than 4 weeks to see results., I suggest investing on one good book like http://bodyforlife.com/ that breaks a lot of myths out there. you just might be exercising "wrong", not long enough or too much (and yes there is such a thing as exercising too much and not getting results, your body needs breaks when it "heals" your muscles by using that fat as energy to do so) - 5 months ago
It's a terrible way to lose weight. What happens is your body will start to eat it's own muscle.but first it will go in survival mode and will make sure to store fat and lower your metabolism (so you won't be using as much energy). Plus you will gain all the weight you lost when you do start eating again. You will eventually lose weight and muscle and you will weaken your body and immune system. It's called Anorexia.it's not a good thing at all.
I used to weigh 200 pounds and I will continue to lose weight until I get down to 90 pounds. I want to cut my caloric intake from 3500 calories a day...
