What to think when your boyfriend of 6 months doesn't get you anything for your birthday, and decides to take you to dinner with his brother & his brother's wife (we never get to go out just the 2 of us anymore), at HIS favorite place to eat, instead of yours? Now it's his birthday. I wasn't sure if I should get him anything, but I did because I love him. Nothing extravagant. A nice shirt & a card. I'm planning something romantic when we get back from his parents' house (dinner), but I'm afraid he won't like it. Any thoughts?

This guy sounds like an old growth forest, very dense. Tell him that he needs to make an attempt to so how much he cares. I'm sure you've said it before, but this time really make it sound like it needs to be his priority. Tell him to consult women that he works with on what he should do.
With this guy it's probably a matter of saying the right combination of words the right amount of times for this to sink in.
If that doesn't work, then you have a very special boyfriend, and should chill the sparkling wine before he takes you out, so you can come straight home and skip the glass.
