I want a certain haircut but she says that she doesn't agree.
It's my body I should be able to control what I look like. Right?
tell me if you agree or disagree

Yes dude, when I was a little kid (back in the 90's) my mom got me the high top Will Smith fade. She still thinks I should get it and gets mad every time I don't. I said mom,"Mom what year is it? " I didn't even give her a chance to reply, I said because it was last year, "It's 2007, not 1995 so I'm getting what I want now, got it, you get to wear the hairstyle you want, and now, so will I. " And as you can see I do not have a high top fade anymore lol.

I agree with you 100% my mom used to be the same way with me dying my hair but I went and did it behind her back (not the smarted thing to do but. ) now she has pretty much gave up. But then again pissing parents off isn't the smarted thing to do especially if you have summer plans.

Well its really up to your mom tell your 18. But you could always get a job like I did and pay for it yourself. But the bad thing is about doing that is getting in shit. So just ask your mom if you could help her pick out your own hairstyle. But if that does not work then go with the flow tell your 18.

Unfortunately until you are 18 your mom has all the power. It may not seem right or fair but that's just how it is. Try talking to her and reasoning with her in a calm manner

I agree so long as its nothing too far from the norm. That would be the only objection I would have from a parental standpoint. Unfortunately, I had to put my foot down with my 16 year old stepson leaving the house in "homey clothes" (or whatever you call them) and a toxic green mohawk. He also used to wonder why this caused the local police to harass him. As soon as we got him a regular haircut and something more conservative to wear, his police harrassment and my neighbourhood ostricization stopped. Yes, it is his body, but it is my household. I feel I have a right to regulate what image my household projects.

Never let a woman tell you how to cut your hair nor how you should dress. PERIOD

Depends. If you can say something like "Look Mom, my grades are good, my classes are college prep, I've never been arrested, my friends aren't the type that get into trouble and I don't do drugs. Have a hair sample tested if you don't believe me. I'm obviously capable of making good decisions on the big things so I think you can trust me on the small stuff like this. " you have a very compelling argument. I would buy off on it.

On the other hand, if your grades suck and/or you can't /won't be going to college and/or you (or your friends) are getting into trouble you are obviously incapable of exercising good judgment and therefore shouldn't have much control over anything.

Two things.

One, if you're living under your mom's roof and she's paying your rent/bills, then you need to abide by her rules.

Two, this doesn't necessarily apply to haircuts. It's your hair - you should do with it what you think is appropriate.

I will say that she most likely has your best interest at heart, and that it would do you well to pay attention to what your mom thinks - even if you completely disagree and do something else altogether. She's lived a few years longer than you and, whether you want to admit it or not, she probably does have a better perspective on life and responsibility than you do (no offense). I'd ask her why she doesn't like your hair and what her motivation for wanting you to change it is.

[all of this totally depends on what kind of hair styles we're talking about here]
