I've been considering a tongue piercing, I think they're very cute and discreet but I've been hearing some negativity about the idea lately and wanted to know opinions. I'm fully aware of the health risks but I'm not sure about the stigma about it. I should hope no one is actually thinking people would only pierce their tongue for sexual reasons but if I'm mistaken, I need to know so I can prepare myself. :)

Update: Wow, these were interesting comments, thanks for them. It's almost a month later and I've yet to actually pierce anything. Not because I think it's ugly or unsanitary by the way, I love body art. Sadly, I'm not dedicated enough to for an oral piercing! :)    A month ago

It looks juvenile, its no longer a novel idea--somewhat common now, and I think I would be disgusted to kiss someone with a tongue ring. I know I sound old by saying that but my girlfriend is younger than you and I would kill her if she wanted to do that too herself. You will turn a larger segment of guys off than on and if your goal is attractiveness, why would you want to turn guys off?

For me, piercings can be a turn off. Especially when considering that a piercing is an unnecessary risk to the largest organ in the human body, which is the skin. As a former medic, I have seen my share of what can happen on the negative side of putting foreign objects through your skin. Considering the human mouth is the most germ infested environment in nature, piercing the skin in the mouth is like asking for infection on a regular basis. Yes you can take steps to neutralize the risk, but just like safe sex, the only way to be sure you don't catch something you don't want, is to abstain from the activity that introduces the risk in the first place.

Well there is definitely a connotation that goes along with it. You'll be seen as less professional, as well as possibly more slutty. People who know you for your personality won't think that, but people getting a first impression of you will likely judge you on that.

I had mine pierced for three years and I can honestly say that unless I consciously played with it in front of people, it was easy to keep it hidden. My friends regularly forgot that I had it pierced. As for the tooth chipping, just get a plastic stud rather than the metal one (although the metal one needs to stay in for a month or something at first).

If you get reactions about it that you don't like, you can always just take it out. It's amazing how quick people can be to judge you because of something like that.

Wellllllll I would see tongue piercings as an indicator of someone who is more interested in the sexual world than the rational thought world. So yeah, sadly. Stereotype or not, it really usually is true. I've yet to meet a tongue pierced girl who was particularly modest.

Hi I do not wish to frighten you but my friend 2 years ago had his tongue pierced and within 3 months he died of blood poisoning. He was a healthy 22 year old, with his life ahead of him. Please think very carefully, from my perspective all piercing other than your ears are very ugly and repulse me. Imagine food being trapped in them, forever washing and brushing tongue, possibility of it getting caught on something. Hope you do not have this done but the decision is yours. Good luck

i had my tongue pierced and I loved I thought it was lovely but then it chipped 2 of my teeth!
(not badly though thank god!) so I took it out after 2months of having it. I lost 7pounds in 2weeks when I 1st got it because you can only really eat soup the 1st few days but mine was so sore I couldn't eat anything that wasnt liquidized for 2weeks not that I minded losing the weight lol

but its a nice piercing just make sure after 3weeks you get a smaller bar put in as when the swelling goes down your tongue bar seems way bigger and is more chance of chipping your teeth

Does it ever annoy you that you're single?
random-ren asked 4 days ago

Yes, most of the time! I really wish I had a boyfriend/girlfriend!

A little, because I feel left out.

Not really...

Nope! I have too much fun being single!

What's there to be annoyed about?

Describe your ideal first date; Where do you go? What do you wear? How does the date end?
I would most likely be in blue jeans with a nice shirt or T-Shirt depending on where we go. Early in the date I would enjoy a quit dinner where we actually could talk and find out if we thought it might work. If things clicked ok, I might suggest that we go for a round of drinks and dance or go have a few drinks and shoot pool. If the weather is right we most likely would have been on my Harley.

Afterwards..what will your date know about you?
One she would have been able to judge if I as the type of guy she'd want to see again. The same goes here. I think I would have opened up enough to let her know my goals.

Would you date me?
