The Passing Of The Ring
|
Watching in all of the glory Of my granddaughter reading To her own daughter, her Very favorite late-night story.
This is the wind speaking To you my grand-daughter; And just listening Out of curiosity: "I'm enlightened to watch You take care in All of your Motherly duties.
And if you need any help, Do not worry, or be afraid To leave a whisper in the wind And let me answer in many ways.
With a quiet bird's song, or a giant hurricane; I want you to remember that Things aren't always what they seem."
But now is not my time to talk, It is my time to listen. And what was it that I heard? It was the little one saying:
"Tell me a new story mom, One I never heard before; One with a happy ending, With fairy tales and more!"
"I can do you one better, One that is true, and also Has facts and not details, And the ending includes you.
You see, my little one, this ring that I wear- It will protect you from all sorts of things; Like monsters in the closet And ghosts ... under the bed.
So do not be afraid, your grandmother said it best- Wear this ring always and hold it next to your chest.
So it is near Your heart guarding and doing it's best!
To help protect My little girl's dreams, and keeping her safe Until the sun - beams."
"Is this really what great grandma said?" "She did indeed- So say good night my dear And have sweet dreams."
