Why do people invade my personal space?

Im a quiet and reserved kid. I usually keep to myself and people in my classes don't normally talk to me. But in these past two semesters, people are starting to talk to me, especially this entire year. Especially guys. they always sit near me now. that's odd because they didn't before.

Well I don't know if this is normal socialization behavior, since I'm not really good at socializing. But a few guys get really close to me, it makes me a bit uncomfortable. in this one class, I have to work with these two guys and one of them kept being really close to me. We worked on this project together and the whole time, he would stand so close to me our arms were touching. And since we were observing something really closely, our faces were close to each other. the weird thing is,.neither of us backed away. I didn't mind it so much, which is weird because I usually get bothered when people are in my personal.space. Strange thing is, me and the.guy don't talk much. We just met because we have.to work together all semester.

And in another class, this guy started talking to me and always tries to help me, even though i.dont need help. (im pretty smart). And before, we would leave.a.seat between us. Now, he sits next to me. Sometimes his leg touches mine, and he won't move it. I feel weird so to not be rude, I slowly move my leg away.

Idk this new attention is strange. Is this what having guy friends is like? Actually, is this what making friends is like? they seem like nice people. :D
