  • They are so different that they are hardly even comparable, but the original is always the original, so I go with Johnny.

  • Even with the bad qulity video you got of johnny he still sings it way better
I dont usally say this i actually love when artists cover songs (just check out my youtube history lol) but i think this halsey cover is really bad : /
Check out russle crowe singing folsom prison on the jimmy fallon show its surprisingly good

Also best cover ever is prob slipknot/korn doing a live cover of sabatoge

Halsey just doesn't have the voice, nor the background to even hold a candle to it.

    • 3mo

      I agree
And it was the wrong genre to try and convert the song to
      Just doesn't work

    • 3mo

I know. I've even heard a 60s go-go swinging version of this song preformed by a female singer and It sounded way better than Halsey, but still not like the original.

What Girls Said 12

  • Johnny cash all the way. He's a true legend grown up with parents who are into this sort of music. to be honest Halsey seems a bit more Modern than when Johnny sung this song. Great question!!

  • I like the slower set up of the second one, but I don't like her voice.
I think he did it better.

  • Don't FCK with Johnny's stuff, OK? Same with George Jones, and Willie Nelson,
Hank Williams, Conway Twitty, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. They were One and Onlies, and nobody could EVER do better than the classics!!

  • Never really liked Johnny Cash or Halsey. He's a classic though and she isn't yet, so I want to give it to him but I didn't really like either one.

  • J cash did it a little too fast and upbeat for me while hasley did it a little too slow and dark... Somewhere in the middle would be perfect
