I have never considered myself to be any kind of a ladies man, I don't go out to bars or anything like that, and outside of the fact that I'm very married, I have found the best approach for me in regards to women. Is to 1. not stress so much about it, women as I understand it like a guy who is comfortable in their own skin. 2 try to find a commonality, this is why I don't go to bars, I don't like the bar scene and I don't feel comfortable there. However if I can find an activity I like I will spend more time at that activity, so if there was like a sculpting class, art class, or something along those lines I would enjoy them, and it indicates a common interest. Lastly if there is something you know about, talk about that and try to incorporate those with the common ground, that way not only are you comfortable about what you are talking about, you can talk about it at length and will be well versed and can carry on an intelligent conversation about that topic, then they will get to not only learn a little about the subject but about you as well. ;-)

Yup personalize the compliment and tailor it to her to make it unique, because a generic compliment isn't going to win her over, giving her a personalized one lets her know you actually thought of her long enough to come up with a compliment that can only be used for her and they get tired of the over used compliments, because most of the time they already know they look good they want to hear from you what about her that makes you think she looks good etc.. Often because they were never taught how to. Not to get all psychological, but praise doesn't happen in all families when you're growing up.
In my family, if we did something we were proud of, we were always more likely to be told what was wrong with it. Praise in our family was seen as encouragement for arrogance.
If we were pleased with something , we were always shot back down, and maybe it's been like that for people who can't really deal with compliments.
