I would stereotype myself as a girlie-tomboy
Is this type of personality a turn off?
Surely, this type of personality is not a turn-off.
I'd say it's a good thing to keep active and want to do and see lots of stuff.
It is quite another thing to be that kind of girl who just CAN'T sit still.
This might be something in your personality which keeps you from settling down.
I had a relationship with a girl like that, but in the end it just didn't work out.
I couldn't talk to her about the future (our future together). The very idea suffocated her.
She too "liked to be free!" and climb each and every (proverbial) mountain.
But if your life is completely filled with "climbing mountains, seeing new places, meeting new people and being free!" that leaves little room for developing and keeping meaningfull relations.
It takes all the running you can do to keep in the same place? (Like the Red Queen)
Are you ever looking for new experiences and challenges because standing still would mean having time to think (and have doubts) about your life?
I don't know you and maybe I'm totally of the mark. But for me, I'd seriously think twice before having a relationship with a girl like that again. Though just dating one is a heck of a lot of fun, because it's a good personality to be around with. But not to share your live with.
I imagine you might be intimidating to some guys, but then again, those probably wouldn't be your type anyway. Generally speaking, most guys LOVE when a girl is into the same sport(s) as they are. It's like hitting the exacta - finding a cool girl who isn't rolling her eyes when you say you want to play basketball or tennis or go for a run.
Here's a little secret: Passion and enthusiam about hobbies or just about anything is extremely attractive to the other sex.
But guys don't like to lose in front of a girl do they?
There are so many woman who are good at sports that I think most men "get it" now and aren't totally threatened.
I recall the first time that I ran a road race and I was stride for stride with a pony-tailed woman, who then went into another gear -- a gear I didn't have. I could only watch as her bobbing ponytail became smaller as the distance between us grew greater. ;) Yes, I was surprised, but it wasn't the last time it happened so it became part of my reality
I can actually respect that. I've always had interests, like I enjoy running, but I want to start biking but I don't know how to ride a bike lol! I also enjoy modern jazz and ballet(dancing it) and colorguard. At least you aren't a boring person! Right?
Most guys I know love active girls. Double if they are a hottie and not butch.
But the flip side it they hate it when you beat them at something they think they should win.
Personally I think it's cool when a girl beats me at something I'm good at. Shows she's serious about it.

Big time. "Girlie tomboy" is ideal for me.
As far as not losing in front of a girl, I don't give a rat's behind unless she is somebody significant to me. I am uber competitive in professional life, so don't tend to do competitive things with my time to keep some balance and contrast (except against my own limits, or a set of peaks to climb without time limit).
Adventure, exploring the unknown and getting through isolated and exposed situations on my own resources are all important to me. Recreational competition isn't.
It depends on the guy? Like for me, that would be my dream girl, I want someone who likes to look pretty but doesn't Mind getting her hands dirty and do adventurous things like hiking a mountain but would have to also love animals and nature and be able to at least tolerate my lizards :p I also want a girl who's fun and is just always out to have a great time. She also needs to have an amazing personality :) so yeah there are guys that go for the looks, but I go for the heart and spirit cause that's what really counts.
Now that is such a beautifully written answer, it gives me hope :)
This is definitely NOT a turnoff. Why would it be?
It's great because it means you're passionate about something guys can relate to. e.g. not make-up, soap operas, romantic comedies or celeb gossip. (Sorry this sounds stereotypical but you get the picture). So, you've got something to talk about with us, something else to do with us and a new place that you can get to know guys doing something they're enjoying.
Even if you didn't commit so much to looking good, it's way better to have interests like these than to not have any but be obsessed with image. Not saying image isn't important, it is, but interests are better for you. Plus, athletic girls tend to be hot anyway ;)
It's attractive and a turnon, but at the same time it doesn't appeal to the sensible side of me, which is the side that must be appealed to for me to consider a girl long-term relationship material. It's like the difference between vegetables and candy. One is certainly more appealing than the other, but it isn't the one that will treat you well and keep you in good health for the rest of your life. Get what I mean?
you sound pretty awesome to me. personally I like adventurous girls are cool as long as they don't act like a total guy. Its a refreshing break from the screaming girly girls who freak out when there's a spider in the room.
Thank You :)
welcome :)
It's a turn-on -- guys LOVE to do all those kinds of things... and it's even better if they have someone they're passionate about to enjoy it with :). Don't worry about being a tomboy.
I really like active girls who do crazy stuff. As long as they don't do stuff that looks really weird like bending on joints and such. That looks pretty gross.
I don't know why but I find sporty girls hot. A girl being a bit muscular and energetic always attracted me. Usually these girls are self-confident yet kind.
