Why are girls always surprised that I’m single?

When girls I’m chatting to at parties or nightclubs or whatever ask me whether I’m single, they’re surprised when I say that I am. Why would that be surprising though? There are many possible reasons that a guy would be single, whether he’s single voluntarily or involuntarily. How could a girl be surprised that a guy is single, just from seeing him and talking to him for a few minutes? That’s surely not enough time to get to know someone and to form a judgment of them.

Girls, like guys, have a few shallow or quick assumptions about guys that usually determines whether he's of high attractiveness or not. Just as you'd be surprised to find out a hot girl was single (even though you haven't gotten to know her yet, so you don't know enough about her to form a real judgment), we will do the same thing. If the guy is hot, confident, talks well with women, we'll be surprised he's single.

I can't really judge my own looks. I'm too used to the sight of my own face. As for my personality, I guess I have a pretty good personality. But what exactly is an amazing personality? I don't know LOL.

I get this often too...

It's usually because we look good, are outgoing, well-dressed, sociable, well-spoken... so it's only natural that we should have a woman by our side... and when we don't - it surprises them ;)

Well, girls have called me 'hot', 'cute', 'attractive' and 'handsome' before. But I have no opinion on my own looks. I'm too used to the sight of my own face to make a detached observation.
