Do you get mad when people joke about Ebola?

There's this guy who hangs out with me and a couple friends, and often he jokes about ebola. Like instead of a smart comaback he'll say "shutup before you get ebola". Or if someone jokes around with him, he'll say he hope he/she gets ebola.

It pisses me off every time he says it and I always confront him about it. I know that Ebola isn't exactly a pandemic right now, but people have still lost their lives too it, and it's kind of a big deal.

How do you guys/girls feel when someone jokes about ebola, or any virus/disease for this matter?

Can't say I know anyone who is immature enough to make such jokes. I wouldn't be impressed if I did hear it tho. Not something to joke about...

This is the thing that will come back one day and take out humanity (if religion does do it first!). The only reason virus's such as Ebola have done it yet, is coz it kills off the host too quickly. One day it will go away and do it's homework properly, and when it's figured this out.. we are in serious trouble!!

I don't get mad but greatly disappointed, and my friends stop immediately, it is a pandemic you just don't hear about it in America news. I'm praying that it also doesn't become one in America, there is no cure, the chances of survival is the lottery.

Yeah, they're still trying to use experimental medicine which they have no idea will work. I just get annoyed when people joke about serious things.

These are the kinds of people who will be the First, however not the last on the list, to be bleeding from all orifices and have a broken heart as well, wishing they could take back those weak minded words and would have also wished deep down that they would have taken better precautions while even mouthing off with their smart ass attitudes.

Dude, people will joke about everything. I don't understand why people still get so offended.

Most people will laugh at Hitler jokes, and Holocaust jokes. But 11 million people were killed... but since it happened like forevz ago who cares, let's make all the jokes we want.

Ebola has been a disease for a very long time and it has killed very many people but because *Right now* some people are dying, if someone makes a joke about it, they're the world's biggest asshole...

I guess it's too soon.

Some of it is funny. But I agree it isn't funny to say "i hope you get ebola." making jokes about someone getting sick or dying isn't funny.

I'm indifferent. I mean why should I get angry? Doesn't accomplish anything.

And also, I'm pretty sure that people have died to all kinds of things during all of human history, so does that mean that I can't crack jokes about anything? I mean I think a lot of people have died when they've walked into a bar...

I don't think it's bad at all, since he obviously doesn't mean it. My humor is a bit on the darker side as well, and I find the Ebola jokes super funny. I can still see the seriousness of the problem, I just don't think that we need to keep it humorless all the time. A little laugh never hurt nobody ^-^

I can say there are SOME ebola jokes that are tolerable, but most are just dumb and unnecessary

I think that it's funny. My friends and I say that stuff all the time. I feel like people get so buthurt about nothing all the time. It's no different than someone saying "Omg that just gave me cancer". Just ignore it. Some people make jokes to make it seem like the problem isn't that bad and it helps keep people grounded and calm
