Guys, Why is boot camp so instense? Is it really what is on movies?

My mom is thinking about sending my brother off to boot camp and on movies it look so extreme... and the people yell in your face and stuff... and you have to do 100 pushups and excersie all day and wash dishes... I mean is it really that extreme like on the movies like Pandoras box : Boot camp unrated that came out in 2008, or G. I. Jane

Not sure how it is in your country but over here I was enlisted for 2 years.
We mainly did drills, endless drills.
Inspections and basic training. Nothing "movie like" though.
A lot of yelling from the sarge though - that one is true. Or I had a sergeant who was into FMJ.

It's pretty boring unless you're deployed.

From what I've heard from my military friends, boot camp is less hardcore war training and more uniform inspections and other hardcore discipline BS.

I've been in navy bootcamp and its even more than movies. Too much to explain by text.

Yes it is but if you run a lot before you go and get into good shape Its not that bad
