Bloody ear piercings?

:-( OK so my ears have been pierced since I was 1, and I've always worn earings til a couple months ago, I'm not sure how long. But my holes havnt closed and I don't want them to close so I started to wear earrings again.

This is the first day I've worn them and my ears were sore for half of the day. But I just took them out and I looked at my hole and it was bleeding :-/ I'm not sure how to clean them so I just showered lol so ya I'm not sure why they were bleeding, I put my earrings back and it's fine but I still don't know how to clean my holes :-/ help? Lol I think my holes were starting to shrink and it got stretched and iritated :-/

I've always soaked my jewelry in peroxide when I change it, because it bubbles off any nasty stuff. But you should definitely be cleaning your piercings with a salt water solution. Preferably sea salt, and half a teaspoon per cup of water, boiled and left to cool, like Shirahime said. Cleanings will become much less necessary as your ears adjust to having jewelry in them again. They're just sensitive and irritated right now. It happens to me a lot if I haven't worn earrings in my second lobe piercings in a long time, but think of it as a cold. Nurse them back to health and they'll be back to normal in like a week or so, haha.

I get that problem with my ears.. or at least one tends to get more irritated than the other.

I've taken to making sure I clean my earrings before I put them in and after I take them out. I always use peroxide to clean them - just soak them for a minute. I clean my ears with peroxide too; I fill up the cap from the peroxide bottle and soak the bottom of my ear in it (where the piercing is obviously) and that's always worked for me.

Can I ask if your ears were pierced with a gun, or needle?

...I don't remember >.< I think a gun because I have faint memories of it and I remember a loud click...and pain lol

Ahh it probably will be the gun then seeing as you were very young.

Piercings done with the gun tend to be more problematic than piercings done with needles.

If you are having problems with keeping the holes clean then you can make a simple cleaning solution at home. Dissolve half a teaspoon of rock salt in boiling water, let it cool then using cotton wool bathe the holes once a week. Also don't forget to clean your jewellery. If they continue being sore and start to swell, go see your GP.
