What do you think of nose jobs? Has anyone had one?

For whatever reason a person gets them, what do you think?

My sister actually needs a nose job performed because she had her nose broken a long, long time ago & never went to the doctor. Eventually it got a bump, but she has problems breathing sometimes. She hates doctors but refuses to go back haha.

I need a nose job for cosmetic purposes though.

What's it like? I hear recovery is the worst

Does liposuction work for removing muscle?

What? Have you ever heard of surgical addiction? Well I had deviated septum surgery..one of my famous 6-major-surgeries-in 10-years run..not sure how much it helped though...eh.. I will always be more positive on cosmetic surgery as it relates to a face..if your sister's nose needs fixing then so be it..if you have a huge honker or a..eh..I do not want to be called names...er..an "odd-shaped" nose then I can see why you might want to change that...I have a skin tag on my left eyelid and it is bugging me...everyone looks at my face every day..including me...females wanting labioplasty is just bizarre though...I hear females on here wanting to permanently alter features that I would like best...and how well will they like their organs after they are altered? They are proposing to alter something they do not even understand...at least with a nose...you KNOW what most people's noses look like...o.O

And people can love themselves after having their "organs" altered on. At the end of the day, when you're the one who has to live with yourself, see yourself naked, live with your body, the choice of surgery is personal and only the individual knows what's best for them

Love thyself as thou wilt..have yet to convince thy neighbors...the choice of surgery is personal and permanent...when I see people in their 30s, 40s & 50s cease rueing the decisions that they made in their youth then I will pay more heed...in the meantime young adults make decision after decision that is irreversible and, while a large percentage of them come to regret, they all thought they knew what was best for them..o.O

They're a fairly safe procedure, low risks for complications You're right on about the recovery; lots of swelling, no signs of the results, and difficulty breathing. I know what you mean, I was teased about my big nose through high school. I've thought about it, just never gotten around to it. Now my wife doesn't want me to get one.

Nope, lipo will not remove muscle. Muscles are fibrous strands of solid mass while fat are clusters of cell with oily liquid substances in them. The lipo instruments only work on fat cells. To remove muscles would require the surgeon the actually cut it away. I don't know if any are willing to do that.

I don't really see how people have a problem with it. If it makes you look more attractive, great. Who doesn't want to be more attractive? I would like to get one too. I really don't like my nose, and my brother and I were wrestling when I was 12/13 and he kicked me in the face and ever since my nose has been a little crooked. The only reason I'm nervous about it is because of the cost and the recovery.

I don't agree with nose jobs for cosmetic purposes, but hey, it's your face, do what you will with it.

I have a friend, though, that had the same problem as your sister. He had his nose broken so many times, and it had healed really crooked, it was causing him a lot of difficulties with breathing. That I do agree with.

I don't believe in it unless you need it for breathing problems or to correct a broken nose. My nose is somewhat big in my opinion but I think I still look handsome. I actually broke it twice but it is only somewhat crocked on the inside.

Your follow up question; does liposuction work for removing muscle? I don't think so... It's much more solid than fat tissue.

Don't know any personally, but any before/after pics I've seen have been good tbh.

I do not think lipo normally removes muscle, no. its more like a vaccuum.

well fat I think they can just kind of jab a bit and its mush and gets sucked out. muscle is like ... tough and stringy and all attached. think of the lean meat in a roast vs the fat.

Apparently there is a korean/japanese (and now LA based) calf treatment where they shoot botox into the muscle and it makes most of it not work any more, which makes it smaller.

I'd go ahead and wait a few years to see how that impacts them long term before trying it.

It strikes me the long term impacts of atrophying parts of your leg via the botulism toxin is something I'd want to observe before trying.

if the person is contemplating surgery, then they're insecure; if they've gotten it done they're more than likely secure at that point

well, PLC, that doesn't always work out that way. Lots of people get cosmetic surgery thinking they'll go away only to find out they are insecure still.

agreed, cause what they want isn't to look better, but to be accepted as they are, but since they don't think they can have that as they are, so they change. but the acceptance may still not come after, so now they want something else to change, and so on.

And people who've no firsthand experience with plastic surgery go off of the few nutjobs who let it spiral into a habit and that's not the case with most people

I've family members who've had surgery, more intense than that, and I've not witnessed any further manifesting insecurity

I've a few friends who've had nose jobs and they said it was hell, but it was worth it and they aren' obsessive
