Would you just leave him/her alone until they contact you? What would you do in this situation? please help

You meet the nicest girl or guy online.You guys become good friends and like each other very much,you guys chat online everyday and then suddenly he/she tells you that his family member got seriosly ill and that they would have to go abroad for treatment.He/she gets so busy but tries to reply to your email whenever he/she can.Would you send him/her an email from time to time just to make him know that you're there for them or would you just leave him/her alone until they contact you? no matte how much you miss him/her?

The occasional email is harmless. If the truth is they've lost interest, you will surely be able to tell if they're trying to "blow you off." If they really are going through what they say they are, they'll eventually pick back up where they left off.

Just keep it light and don't badger them with questions about your relationship with them, not that you were going to. Take care!

As a guy, I would - because girls need constant contact. They need to know you're thinking of them.

If it were a girl, I'd say she doesn't need to send any emails. The guy won't give a toss either way, he'll just focus on the more important things.
