The only sport I can think of that would be of complete disadvantage to you is basketball, for obvious reasons. But even then there have been some short basketball players. I think even at 5'6'' it shouldn't stop you that much from playing professional sports. There are many sports out there that would be available to you like baseball, football (soccer), American football, rugby, hockey etc.
I'm shorter than you at only 5'4'' and I could've played professional football if I stuck at it. There were a few positions that were out of my reach (no pun intended) due to my lack of height. I wasn't able to be a goalkeeper or a defender. Even being a striker was said to be a bad idea for me as I was facing defenders who were 6''+ and could easily head the ball away if I ever wanted to score a header. So I was put in midfield and that's where I stayed for the first two years of my university team. However, except for height, I knew I had the attributes to play as a striker and finally put in a request to my coach to give me a trial, even for one or 2 games. I worked hard and I'm still playing as a striker now. I am the number one choice for a striker in my university team.
My point is, if you think you have the qualities to make it as a professional sportsman and you work hard at it you can be given a chance. Never say never is what I say.

There are a lot of athletes who are short. A Google search will tell you this:

By the way, I am 5'6" myself. I was a 7 time letterwinner in high school for football, basketball and baseball. While I know that's not pro level, I was still shorter than almost every guy who played those sports especially in basketball and did just fine. It was just a matter of having other skills to be able to be successful in the sport(s).
haha no not at all:)
football is different… its a sport which requires coverage of a large area by jumping and reaching. same with sports like basketball and volleyball
but if you think about it, if they let women of that height compete professionally, why can't a man? because he's a man and has to be at least 6 foot? that's stupid…
but you can definitely still compete…. track, swimming, gymnast, soccer, etc…. I always thought it was more about how you apply the WHOLE body rather than just being tall...
Yes, unless you're unusually talented.
Colleges have height and weight requirements for football players. I knew a guy who missed the cut by an inch so they didn't offer him a scholarship to play. If you're underweight, it's a no go. If you're overweight, they also won't take you (I knew a guy who was overweight and they told him they couldn't sign him)

I went to school with a guy who was 5'4" and nobody thought he had a snowballs chance in Kim Kardashians pants of making the football team. What they didn't know was that the guy had more heart than an organ bank, and wouldn't take no for an answer. He showed up for practice a half hour before everyone else and stayed a half hour later. He'd take hit after hit from the biggest guys on the squad and keep comin back for more. Of course, he ended getting cut from the team anyway. I mean, after all, the guy was only 5'4" tall!
As much as height helps in athletics, it isn't a determining factor of one's abilities.
Mugsy Bogs and Spud Webb were 5'4" professional NBA players and were quite good. One famous draft pick from my favorite college football team was a 5'3" running-back.I played a lot of "guy" sports in high school and I got picked on because I was 5'1" and the only girl football/ice hockey player on the team. No one took my seriously until I tackled them. I didn't look so small after that! You just have to push through it and you'll be fine.
It would 'almost but not entirely certainly' mean you wouldn't play many well known professional sports. In sports like hockey, football, basketball, shockingly short players in the highest professional leagues are sub 5'10".
On the other hand, Manny Pacquiáo is your height. He's made $300 million as a professional athlete ...Basketball. If you are really good like Nate Robinson , who is about 5'9, (which isn't really that much taller than you) you can make it in the NBA. He's one of the shortest NBA players in history and he's also the NBA's first 3 time slam dunk champion. link
Some hockey players are shorter. Theo Fluery was only about 5'6 and he was one hell of a player. The shorter guys have more speed
that's not necessarily true. it might be harder but not impossible
No I don't think so, if you have talent you have talent.
I think danny woodhead and darren sproles are about that height.
You could be Darren Sproles maybe.
Your odds are way lower
Not really
