when I was talking to my friend in our language some stranger in front of us would just turn around and say "i love the way your language sounds".
so, I'm curious: what is it that you guys like about it?
Its because its something new and sort of rare to us. America doesn't have a large concentration of bordering countries like most others, so we don't get to experience that many other languages. Its just something interesting and new to hear. Lots of countries think america is stupid because so few of us are bi-lingual but that's just because we're not exsposed to other languages nearly as much as other countries are. It's kind of unlucky for us because we are stuck with the same old american accent every day of our lives with very few breaks(such as yourself); whereas, if you went to France for example you could bump into people with all kinds of accents from all over Europe. Look...
Coninent: North America
Countries: U.S. and Canada (and we hardly interact)
Or
Continent: Europe
Countries: France, Spain, England, Germany, Turkey, Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Romania, Greece... plus a hundred others.
So basically we're pretty isolated and like something new once in a while :)
Oh yah and also its generally believed in America that foreign girls are more "sexually out-going" so to speak. So that kind of plays a role in the guys being attracted to it.
Hmm I see. that makes sense. I couldn't stand the American accent anymore after only 3 weeks lol having to live with it everyday must be horrible. especially for guys. I thought American girls sound like hyperactive drama queens whenever they open their moulth lol sorry, no offense..
Perhaps because the American accent is so ugly... ;)
I'm quite sure liking accents isn't limited to Americans. They're probably perceived as interesting/exotic/sexy/whatever to some degree almost everywhere (except perhaps places where people are extremely xenophobic).
Personally I'm not too happy with my Dutch accent but I've read there are a few misguided fools out there who think it's cute :D
Ahah he said he's dutch. doesn't that make it clear that he's from Holland? lol
Oh oops, sorry I didn't even read the name of the person who commented.
anyway, I speak German.but not the real German, its kind of a special dialect....well, never mind ^^
Exactly! :P
Lol ta gueule :P
Honestly, it's different and thus exciting and attractive. You don't hear it every day, and having a different accent implies different experiences in life and a general different outlook on it too.

I get the same reactions from foreigners with my accent, I have a strong Irish accent so it kinda stands out a lot and I bet if I started speaking in gaelic they'd be in awe hahah. I don't know I think its just because they're used to hearing their accent and english all the time so when they hear someone speak a different language and in a different accent they are bemused by it... its cool I think haha
Ahah I met a dude from Ireland. could hardly understand anything he said lol but I love your guys' accent :)
Haha yeah foreign people do generally have a hard time understanding me at times, we talk very fast and kind of has a rhythm to it too but it flows well
Yea a lot bretter than American English ;)
I don't think it's just Americans. I have family members who lived in Australia and their friends come an visit every so often. When one met my grandma the first thing he said was "I love your accent."
I think the only reason you got that comment from a lot of guys is just because your accent is atypical for this region, so it's something to make conversation about.
Yea its very atcpical lol thanks that kinda ecplains things :)
Oops I hit c instead of x and y
coz they think their english is original and also think that don't have an accent ?
