Why don't many Mexicans know how to dance bachata?

I'm a white girl that has grew up around Mexicans. and I have been learning how to dance Mexican for the past few years and when I meet new Mexican people. they ask me if I know how to dance and I say a little. and I list them the dances I know and my favorite is bachata and I asked them if they know how to dance bachata and they said no or maybe a little or something like that. and I told my best friend and she said not many Mexicans around here know how to dance bachata. soo...why don't many people dance the bachata?

I guess because its not mexican.

I think some of the other Hispanics do dance that though. They don't seem to dance to music from other countries like salsa or merengue either.

I don't dance at all though. So I'm not sure what mexicans dance to.

From my understanding bachata is more of a Caribbean Latino dance. I associate it more with Dominicans than anything. Girl the Mexicans are probably looking at you like you crazy for suggesting that lol just saying!

Maybe the mexicans in ur city haven't been exposed to bachata. I live in Atlanta and we have been exposed to it a lot in the clubs, weddings, and sweet 15s. So I guess it all depends where u live.

Because bachata is a horrible genre of music. Spanish music in General isn't appealing, except for rock en espanol.
