This is you. A hard worker, no matter what the weather is, rain, snow, sleet, you are that worker. You come in, you do what you gotta do and you come home.
As days, go to weeks, go to years, you notice that other people are getting ahead of you. No one notices, or shall I say other employees are causing problems for you.
Then you got this twaddleturd. Who goes crying to higher ups because he dont like your ideas, or the problem-solving tactics you come up with because he is too stupid to come up with it himself and will run above the other persons head if no one listens to him.
And you got the asshole boss who listens to the twaddleturd. But when the twaddleturd comes to reality he becomes one of the management by brown nosing and bribery and runs away. That same boss who knows your value, listens to the other underlings because he chooses to listen to them over you since you have seniority.
So the boss hangs out with those who are against you, even helps those against you get ahead.Goes to bars with them as well.
So you become this guy. Hiding from people seeking you out at work.
You are this guy...
we deserve a "pat on the back" for going above and beyond. I dont care if you got an axe to grind, you should acknowledge hard work and not the other people who you favor should get ahead.

You're the good worker, and everyone else is a twaddleturd who licks the boss's @ss and balls. They're not running and telling on you because they're too busy giving you all of their work while they take days off, leave early, come late, sit around shooting the schitt with others, etc... basically, just not doing schitt but socializing and slacking and hating you because you "don't talk to anybody" (but catch-22 because you can't because you're busy doing all of their work, which you got because you were busy doing all your work and not socializing and slacking). But twaddleturds 1, 2 and 3 have convinced bossturd to promote or give more money to them because they have the "right social skills" and you're a f*cking old skool introvert who still believes you should get promotions, bonuses and raises based on the quality of your work/how reliable you are and not by how much @ss you can kiss and lick porno style.
In other words, hard work does pay... just not the kind you're thinking of.
From my experience it doesn't. Most jobs will expect you to keep doing things/ask you to do more and not pay you for the added work.
The only time hard work pays off.. is if you work for yourself/for you.
