What eye color do you think our babies eyes will be? 😅
I have dark brown eyes and my boyfriend has green eyes... what color eyes would our baby have?

I've looked into eye colour genetics a lot... because I have a bit of a thing for eyes, lol. It's way more complicated than it seems. There are multiple genes affecting to colour, all working in unison, so while the simple 'dominant/recessive' stuff works to some extent, it is happening on multiple different genes and the end result can seem confusing.
That being said, the 'basic' version (if we just simplified everything and piled all of the genes affecting eyes into one bucket) would depend on whether or not you had a recessive gene. If you have brown eyes, you could be BB, or Bbl, or Bg. It would all show as brown. Him being green means he must be gg. So...
If you are BB, the baby would be Bg, guaranteed. So it would show brown eyes (but it would have a recessive green, so it would be possible for you to have green eyed grandchildren).
If you are Bbl, you would have a 50% chance of the baby being Bg, and 50% of it being blg... and I think blue shows over green... so if you have a recessive blue, you would have either a brown eyed or blue eyed baby, even though neither of you have blue showing yourself. In each case the baby will have that green recessive.
If you are Bg, you would have a 50% chance of the baby being Bg, and 50% of it being gg. So, 50% of it being brown eyed with a hidden green recessive. And 50% chance of it having green eyes.
If both of your parents are brown eyed, you will have no way of knowing if you have a recessive gene in there anywhere. If you have a blue eyed or green eyed parent, you will know that you must have the recessive.
This is all a huge oversimplification, as I mentioned, because it is actually far more complicated than one gene determining it. But it gives you a ballpark to think about.
... holy shit 😵
lol, and that's the vastly simplified version...
I give up... 😣
Well, to sort of... sum up the info...
You either have a 50% chance, or a 100% chance, of the baby having brown eyes. That's for sure. If you have a recessive, you'll have a 50-50 chance of your recessive showing up. Otherwise, brown.
If your parents are both brown eyed, you don't know if you have a recessive. If all of your grandparents are brown eyed, you're most likely not going to be hiding a recessive in there. There would be a tiny chance, but it'll be small. If one of your parents is blue or green though, then you would have a 50-50 chance of your baby having the eye colour of that parent.
well... roughly. There would be a chance if the parent was blue eyed that they would be blg.. that would change all of the percentages... but that would be pretty rare.
green is only 2-3% of the worlds population so dark brown
I voted dark brown although it could be a slight mix between the two you never know
It depends, eye color is a very complex tricky thing

Brown, unless he has a recessive gene for green eyes. Then theoretically, your baby has a 1/4 chance of havung green eyes. If he has the recessive gene for blue eyes, the baby will theoretically have a 1/4 chance of having blue eyes since the gene for blue eyes is stronger than that if green eyes.
Usually the baby has brown eyes as for some reason the colour brown is more over ruling. My mum has really blue eyes and my dad has hazel, brown eyes and i have really dark brown eyes. Don't ask me why... LOGIC
It depends. If green eyes are a dominate gene in his family, it would be 50/50. But if green eyes were a recessive gene in his family, the baby would most likely have brown eyes
Probably dark brown...
My bf has green eyes too. And mine are brown too.
If we ever have babies i REALLY hope they are green like his
I think the brown would be the dominant gene, but there's no guarantee.
yellow basically...:-P
anyway it depends on the rest of the family as well
Yellow eyes would be awesome... 😏
That's a myth. Dark eyes aren't dominant.
I'm studying biology
They will most likely be brown.
Does your family have any green color gene?
It depends
