Do people really use tinder as an ego boost?

I've heard that some people do this instead of finding a bf/gf or hookup. Is this true? If it is then it actually makes sense in some cases.

Tinder, like any other dating app/site is a woman's market. For every woman there are 1000 creepy guys trying to get her. Women can be more selective and still get matches more frequently... guys on the other hand can swipe for long bouts of time and not have any matches, they have a lot of competition. If anything, mediums like that hurt men's egos, especially when they don't realize the science of what I just explained, they will most likely feel unattractive and unwanted.
