I've noticed that people have the same reactionary response to two people of the opposite sex hugging. They usually freak out and assume they are cheating. Now, I will say women are the ones I've mostly observed having this over reactionary response to their man hugging another woman but that's not to say men couldn't over react to it as well.
People need to understand, that if you already have a suspicious mind about someone. Anything, that they do will seem suspicious to you. Also, anytime you snoop on someone or see them from a distance. Without a back story or knowledge as to what's going on, anything can look suspicious from a far. That's why conversation and honesty is always a good policy.
Now, back to the hugging thing. I always think to myself " a hug is just a hug, what's the big deal?". I mean, there's two types of people. The ones that will hug anyone, because they are friendly like that and the ones (like myself) that are a little more apprehensive with the human contact thing and only hug someone when they feel comfortable. So, just because someone hugs someone does not mean they are cheating, it's just a hug.
For another perspective, if we go with this assumption that some people have about a simple hug. Technically, you could apply that to any contact a man and woman have with one another.
If they talk, they could click and find they're compatible and that could lead to cheating.
If they shake hands, they could feel a spark and that could lead to cheating.
If they look at each other from across the way, they could feel something and that could lead to cheating
If they smile at each other, that could draw them in and make them attracted to that person. Which, could lead to cheating.
Basically any contact a man and woman have together could lead to something. So, for one not to be paranoid men and women would have to stop, looking, smiling, talking and hugging each other. Plus, they could never shake hands. All of which, is very ridiculous. See, the real answer lies within ones self, not other people.
Trusting someone is scary, giving your heart to someone is scary and knowing they have the potential to break it is terrifying but without trust you have nothing. When you let the sins of people who did you wrong in the past, effect the relationships you have in the present, that's a problem.
I myself, struggle with that. I've been hurt a lot by people, it's scary and I find myself questioning people I'm really into. All that leads to is them feeling bad and thinking I don't trust them, when the person I really don't trust is myself in trusting the right people. So, you can't let the past dictate your future ( something else I'm working on), you have to let it be the past.
People always have the potential to cheat, but when you accuse an innocent person of doing something they would never do, you show them you don't have faith in them or your relationship. Which, is a kind of a big deal.
So, to conclude. A hug is just a hug, it's innocent and harmless. So, unless you have cold hard facts and undisputable proof they are being unfaithful, don't make that accusation. Without proof all you have is assumptions and fear can mislead you to the wrong conclusion. So, don't accuse someone of cheating based off something as simple as a hug because without proof you've got nothing.
