HSV-1 is actually very common. It's highly likely that your boyfriend may have it as well but doesn't know because the virus can remain dormant for months or even years. Many people come into contact with it as babies because of being in close contact (such as being kissed on the cheek) by adults who are infected. It's really not a big deal at all. Simply tell him that you have recently realized that you have the HSV-1 virus. Maybe look online for some facts about it so you can be prepared to give him information about it if he doesn't know already. That could help put his mind at ease a little bit. Good luck hun.
Wow I'm sorry for the diagnosis. But whose to say he didn't give it to you since y'all have been together that long unless y'all haven't done it yet. Anyways, just sit him down and be like you know how I just went to the doctor for a check up right? Well my doc just confirmed I have xyz so you may want to get yourself checked out. No this isn't curable but they do have meds to help me have less outbreaks. Anyways good luck and I know how you feel because I had to tell my fiance my ex gave me something smh. It was curable in my case thank God. So he was more understanding and didn't leave me..
Tell him you have something important to tell him and that you hope he accepts you and doesn't get mad at you. He'd probably be shocked and upset at first but if you were together for 2 years then he probably has them too. Did he give them to you? If so, he probably would be in shock cause he didn't know he had them. I would get him tested too.

HSV-1 is actually a very common virus so don't freak yourself out about it because your boyfriend would more than likely have it too! Have a chat with your boyfriend.
I have it myself but not sure if it's oral or genital HSV-1 as I've never had a cold sore nor an outbreak downstairs since being diagnosed two years ago.
I would've caught mine from an exGF or FWBs who didn't know they had it!
That is not a big deal at all. The majority of people have herpes in America and do not even know it.
If he leaves you then that shows what kind of person he really is.
I think you should tell him so he can get checked.
