Why do guys give girls long hard stares?

Not that they're really creepy stares... it's just the duration and intensity that makes me wonder... what are you thinking? Sometimes it's from guys my age and other times these guys are about 15 or so years older. No smiles... even when they finally avert their gazes.

When I'm attracted to a girl, I can't help but stare. It's like everything she does fascinates me. When she smiles, I smile inside. When she laughs, I laugh inside. Etc...I also may be...hm..."collecting?" information that I could use to start a conversation later that day such as "So what were you and ____ talking about over there? it looked pretty secretive" and then shed laugh (id hope) and probably say oh..nothing...So yeah basically things like that which might give me an advantage to get her "affections" ;). Thanks for your answer... and it does help a lot for certain situations. But what if the guy is just standing there about 15/20 feet away and realizes you've noticed him staring. Shouldn't he logically look away?

If I like the girl I always immediately look away and look as if was doing something e.g. examining my pencil or something stupid. Maybe he's just a little slow ordoesnt know he's doing it lol

Well I liked this girl a lot last year and I would just stare at her for no reason, I don't know why I did it. I thought of nothing I just wanted to observe her actions, its like one of those nature shows where you just watch a turtle walk through a desert kinda. Smiling would be kinda weird wouldn't it? why do girls stare at guys?

Smiling at least would have made it seem more like harmless flirting... what I'm really asking though is, we're you interested in maybe going out with her or was it purely physical attraction or what?

Physical attraction - it's in every guy out there, no matter how old he is. My 88 year old grandfather dropped his lunch when a big boobied girl jogged by his house and waved at him - we just can't help it.

Yeap, just hardwired physical attraction. Some guys can curb it but every now and then we see something that makes us drop everything and go heyyyyyyyyyyyy..........

cause we don't see attractive girls that often. It's like staring at a really nice car as it rolls by.
