Why do Western people has to associate with people dressing out of the norm as a mask to hide yourself behind instead of just something you?

do to let your inner self out. Hiding behind a mask, and being fake/not real is actually the opposite of when people are doing with they wear what they like even though their fashion is outside of what's normal. When it comes to different fashions and lifestyles like the Gothic, Lolita, Mori Girl, Gyaru, Fairy kei, Decora, Visual Kei, Oshare Kei, Scene, Emo, Scene, Hime Kaji, etc. people think they wearers of the fashion are only doing it do seem fake, seek attention, hide their "real" selves, or are scary people just because we don't look like everyone else. Everyone goes on about acceptance, and having the freedom to be yourself, but the moment someone does it they're like, "Oh that person's weird", and "You look fake", or "Please stay your "real" self and stop hiding behind a mask, you're beautiful just the way you naturally are", and the biggest one of all "Eww why does she/he dress and look that way? They must be fucking mental". Seriously, you either practice what you preach about your freedom speech bullshit, or stfu and admit you're a twat. I honestly don't get why people do this? It pisses me off. >:I

For those who think that way you should watch this video in its entirety:
