Would you ever let one of your parents set you up on a date?

I would never allowed that to happen. Even if it's out of my control, I will never go along with it.

What type of person? I'm Chinese, so both of my parents will probably pick a short virgin Chinese doctor. What's there to like? :P

I'm a white girl trapped in a Asian body. I prefer dating white boys because I find I have more in common with them. In terms of beliefs, etc. I guess I'm not the "conservative" type. I would also choose someone that has similar ambitions/goals in life, doesn't have to have everything in common in terms of interest. I prefer learning about what he's interested in and vice versa. Someone that is smart, funny, caring, confident, in good shape. I know, pretty much nonexistent.

I seriously don't think my parents know me all that well in terms of my preference in men. Ideally, they would want me to date within my own ethnicity. Which they have accepted that it's not going to happen.

Let me respond from the other side. As a mother with five kids (four of them teenagers), I would never try to set up a date for one of my kids. Each person needs to make his or her own choices on whom to date. Period, end of story. Not all parents feel this way, but I know many who do (including my husband). The idea of setting up dates for my kids is probably even more repulsive to me than it is to them!

My did that once and it was horrible.

she set me up on a date with her friends son, he was cute and nice. We went out in a couple of day and asked me to be his girlfriend. It was a very hard relationship. My mom picked a really cute guy but he was in so much trouble, he actually went to jail 2X's wile we dated. I didn't brake up with him till he got out couse I felt bad for him.
