21 dHOLY FUCK! 😲
It's crazy how you can't trust ANYTHING these days! But twice, damn? I'm sorry.
My mom did though, when she first came to this country. She took a job making bibs, and she sent them in and they never sent her the money.
Fucking assholes! Crazy that this still happens in the U. S. Shame on them for preying on desperate people.

I'm so sorry that happened to your mom. Yes it's very disgusting how they are in the U. S. I can't believe how bad they are.
- 21 d
I hope they're caught and jailed. Did you report them?
- 21 d
Yes I did.

3.5K opinions shared on Education & Career topic. My bank called me today and asked me if i wrote a check for 1900 dollars to some guy who I never heard of. The check had my name on it but it was a fake. I told them not to accept it. I guess the guy left before the cops showed up. I have to go there tomorrow and close the account and open a new one with different numbers.

I’m Advisor Smith. You’re not a fool—you’re human, and scammers are very skilled at exploiting people who are trying to do the right thing.
I’ve coached many clients through this. A few thoughts:
- Treat this as data, not a verdict on your worth. You learned warning signs.
- Save emails, texts, job posts; report to the job board, FTC, and your bank.
- For future roles: never pay upfront, never deposit checks “to send money back,” and verify company details via official sites/LinkedIn.
You’re wiser now, not weaker.10 Reply

@Simslover92 probably. I knew before that they would expect me to go back to my prior employer and solicit business for them. (Firestone) When asked to do that I told them to 'fuck off" and of course I was walking a week later.
Got another job the following week on Wilshire Blvd as an Auditor, and the rest was wonderful history in my employment experience
The company in question did not have a sterling reputation to begin with and their hiring practices were suspect for that reason.

@Simslover92 all kinds of cheats/scammers out there, sweet pea, and you are just such a good person not to suspect that this kind of trash is part of our society. I have been pick pocketed by two such trash, and I had no idea they were that kind of human scum to steal from someone like myself or anyone not thinking about thieves out there ready to steal from you.

s 21 dnope..
but, if you don't mind me asking
how on earth do they end up with very personal and sensitive information like access to your banking accounts?
did this happen on the interview process? or once you were working for them?
how is it even possible?12 Reply- 20 d
It was after I supposedly got a job. They hit me with the w4 form and I assumed it was real because of that form. Had I looked more into it, I wouldn't have even bothered. They got me with the w4 form lol but I at least caught them before they could take my money.

that's... wild
21 dI was once yes. I received a positive response to a job in London. It all looked good and I was about to take the plane to meet my employer. Luckily my parents saw the red flags so I didn't go but afterwards it was reported on the news that there was this man who supposedly lured in women with the job offer and abduct them, drug them and rape them. He got arrested but I could have been one of his victims.

20 dAny potential employer that asks for money from you is a scam. I've found out that at least two employers were fake before I entered any pertinent information. Just felt wrong and I was correct.
Was one about having your car wrapped in advertising plastic and being paid to do so. The other was an editing job. Both were fake. If the amount you're being paid seems too fantastic, it's always some kind of scam. Asking for money is a dead giveaway.Take care.

@Simslover92 had an experience like that on Facebook. Some trash organization, hacked my account and tried to scam me by pretending to be one of my close friends on Facebook, telling me to send $200.00 to them and get $100,000 from some "government organization, that is granting some kind of idiot donation to people like myself? Immediately, I thought, "Who could be that stupid to fall for that kind of BS"? Sadly, some persons must fall for it!

@Bricealan Was reading my AARP bulletin. Lots of romance scams on older people who send thousands and hundreds of thousands to "lovers" (on line only) who ask for cash!! Some people lost all their savings... amazing...
- 19 d
@Screenwriter It seems if people are lonely enough, they will do just about anything to have someone in their lives, and always someone that will take advantage of them.
- 18 d
@Bricealan Luckily I have nothing.. but I might reverse my house for that lover in Iran, Iraq, Ghana withh a fake photo showing him to be a sea captain... It's too easy to be catfished! Men parading as women and vice versa... using fake photos... Bricelean, I'll send you a dollar, but that's all you'll get outta me!! ahahahaha! ...
- 18 d
@Screenwriter Luckily, I have no financial needs and try to help others when I can and when it seems appropriate.
- 16 d
@Bricealan You cut me to the quick. Refusing my dolla dolla bill! Wahhhh

@Screenwriter It was not intentional, my sweet friend🥰

@Bricealan Dollar can't even buy a cuppa joe unless you brew it at home, sad to say!
Moving forward , any job that asks you for money , do not waste your time , no job should be asking you for money period. If a job asks for money , that isn’t a good job to begin with , so why work for a company that requires money? . I came across those jobs before , and I just move on.

18 dWent for a sales position at a kiosk at a grocery store made several sales then my boss tried to hit me up for several hundred dollars to buy gift cards for special customers that spend 2000 or more. I said no why don't you use your expense account? I work for you and should not have to give you money. He told me I can leave since I don't want to be a team player. The other coworker maxed out her credit card I told her not to because this guy is shady af. The guy then stranded her there and left with the gift cards. I was able to get her a ride home. I found out later the company was made up and he literally made a living doing this to people.
10 ReplyThere are thing and information I will not give out it's so sad but this is the world we'll live in
And what's even more sad is more and more apps are popping up that tell us they are there to help us not be scammed no matter what i do and especially if it's online
I asked for reviews on the company you just have to be so careful with everything nowadays even jobs10 Reply
21 dMany times. I actually fell for 3 of them because they seemed so legit. I don't think I'm easily fooled, despite falling for these 3 times in my life, but I was. The scams are getting better and better.
There's obvious stuff like incorrect grammar and spelling, informal outreach, and uncommon platforms to reach out to you.
But when they check off on all of those, or make it seem like a pretty reasonable (not too good to be true) offer, it makes it pretty damn hard to tell.10 Reply436 opinions shared on Education & Career topic. No but I had an employee that did a few years ago. I still get occasional emails "from her" asking to update her payroll information to a new account. We just laugh about it as the company is just me and her, but if it was a big business I could see how that could be an issue for her.

20 dKind of: I had trusted the promises of a de facto bankrupt guy.
I burnt bridges, moved abroad, and ended up not even having enough cash to escape on a bus.
The name: Mr. Aoue, from Koh Chang, Thailand.
Thankfully, he died meanwhile.
I got better soon enough 🙂10 Reply I'd like to know what happened that you were scammed.

Yes I did last night. And you're so right. That is insane how they need even your phone number to purchase something online. It's ridiculous.
Explain please how they can take money from you bank account because for me it sound weird.
23 Reply- 21 d
I mean once it's there they have you do bitcoin or other sources to give them the money back which isn't really there so they are stealing from the bank.
- 21 d
You were paying THEM? That should have been the first red flag
- 21 d
No they used the fake check
Yes. *Years* ago. Long story short, the scam artist claimed to be the hiring manager from Aflac. I realized it was a scam when the scammer asked me to send an insane amount of money. Of course, I didn't do it, but I shut it down right then and there.
10 ReplyLol I'm currently in thst state at the moment with a job in US that has so much bureaucracy, it's almost like they want a brown envelope to "grease the wheels" FOR AMERICA ffs
10 ReplyNo, but as a career salesman, I've had my time wasted on a lot of bad jobs, in which there was no realistic possibility of making any money.

u 21 dNo. These days, I usually don't answer the phone unless I recognize the number or prefix. And I don't call back unless they leave a voicemail.

You're welcome. It was supposed to be a remote job. If you apply for any on Indeed, tread lightly. They are probably fake.
21 dNope and I have no clue how a job interview could take any money from you to begin with.
30 ReplyI'll need to werify your bank details. This important job so follow each and everything then send Apple gift cards.. For real, fuck no. This type of bullshit is easy to smell a terabyte away!
