How do you delete someone in your heart?

It’s almost one year from our break-up, and I have not moved on from my ex boyfriend who I did loved a lot.

I tried all the stuffs that help myself in moving on: I cut off all contacts, I stop communicating, I avoided his friends and the places we’ve had been before, I stop having false feelings and hope, and I stop talking about him. I keep telling myself he is gone and he will not come back, he betrayed me and left for another woman. He never loved me, and probably sleeping with other girls, and doesn’t care about me.

I want to get him off out of my mind and chest. I wish I could just throw my heart away and forget all about him. But I could not. I still love him, and I want to get rid off this feelings. I want to stop loving him, please help me?

I feel this way about a guy I never even dated or slept with - just had a ton of sexual chemistry and a little bit of drama. I walked away before the situation could become anything, but it has still been a struggle to completely forget him. Your situation is likely way more intense because you had a relationship with this man, but I think some of the best coping tactics are the same:

- Aim for a balanced perspective of who he is. He is not just the good things you may be romanticizing now. Think about how he treated you, that he lied and cheated on you, remember his flaws, his faults that were unhealthy and toxic. At the same time, appreciate the good experiences you had with him as well, while knowing that you would not take him back even if he did come back

- Focus on self love and self worth. Missing and loving him is okay. But you also have to love yourself enough to know that you deserve better and fight for what you deserve. That fight often starts with our relationships with ourselves. Do some research on how to fall in love with yourself, how to value yourself, and get a therapist who can help with that. This is more important than anything else you could do in my opinion.

- Meet new men, new possibilities. The journey for self love continues throughout our lives, but I would suggest focusing on that for a few months before dating again maybe. But you can eventually meet new guys. And when you love yourself, you move through life differently and don't accept any kind of treatment. You'll realize that you have so many more options for the kind of love you deserve and that makes the end of this last chapter essential to all the potential of your life. Self esteem/self love is the toolkit to get you there, and remember signs/the way he treated you as a warning.

Also give yourself credit. Just because you have not forgotten him, that doesn't mean you haven't been moving on. It's a process. You'll probably never forget him. Your heart isn't a computer. Forgive and be kind to yourself and live your life, focus on the beauty around you in the world and find interesting activities to do, things to see, and people to meet. Life is too short!

Sadly, if you truly loved them, you can never delete them from your heart. BUT, that's something good, because that means you truly loved, and they should be ashamed that they did not.

Cntrl Alt Dlt to open your own task manager, locate lover program and force close it. This only temporarily closes the program and will automatically boot up again after Question 909 reboots every morning. To permanently remove the file you will have to manually open your heart drive and locate said file, it will usually be named "ex's name". exe and delete it. Although in most cases the file will have a subtle name such as "notavirus" etc. If you want to be double sure open the recycling bin and delete the file once again to permanently delete it.

Once you have done that, your system should be clean, but unfortunately the damage has already been done.

Everyone is different and it's honestly up to you on how you can deal with it, either by finding someone else, or coming to terms with your feelings that he is gone from your life. There is no real answer for this question.

Find a new guy. You'll be amazed.
If you truly loved someone that never goes away. EVER. Old memories are replaced with new ones, but the old ones don't just disappear one day.
Time to move on with your life - YOU have to give yourself permission to do that.

I honestly don't think you can, i have had my ex girlfrined stuck in my head for a year now, every night I still go to bed and just think what I could have done differently and tried to understand what the hell i did do. Since she broke up with me I have had 2 other short relationships, and nothing works, not keeping myself busy, not moving on. I dont even love her anymore, im just in love with the memory, at one time i honestly thought she did love me without a dought.
