What does it mean when my ex tells me she doesn't want me to wait for her?

We dated for 3 years, she broke with me recently and she said she wasn't ready for a relationship that she needed to be alone, but i told her id wait for her and she hated that i said that she told me not to wait for her, but its all i want to do i dont want to pressure her but i want to be with her.

It means that she most likely doesn't want to be with you, and that you're better off moving on and finding someone else. Sorry bud.

The other day she said needed time to think about us, to see how each other feels about our relationship

Not a good sign either way. And do you really want to be with someone who needs to think about whether she wants to be with you or not? That in itself says to me that she doesn't want to be with you badly enough. You deserve more than that, and in the end so does she. You both should be with people who would say yes and be with you in a heartbeat.
And the fact that she said that she doesn't want you to "wait for her" is, in my opinion, a not so gentle way of telling you to move on.

Trust me, you're better off moving on. And even if she does come crawling back to you at some point, it likely doesn't mean that she wants you for you. When people come crawling back, it's most often because of the fact that they feel lonely and couldn't find someone else in the moment. Do yourself a favor and respect yourself a bit more than that! I know it feels difficult and shitty, but time passing will make it easier. Especially if you go no-contact.

No worries. <3 Having hope isn't necessarily a bad thing, it probably helps you have a more positive outlook on life and that's healthy. But it can be unhealthy if you don't take no for an answer or if you waste time hoping for things that simply won't happen. In this case, I feel like she could have been more straight up with you, so I don't blame you for perhaps feeling a bit confused and wondering if the window of opportunity is still open for you. But from experience, I can tell you that these are definitely not good signs, and what you've said about her makes me think she's just having a hard time being straight with you about how she really feels. Or it's taking her some time to come to that conclusion, and she'll get there eventually.
I hope you don't feel too beat down by this, and like I said, being hopeful isn't a bad thing! You just gotta know when enough is enough, you know.
