No of course it’s not pointless. Failed marriages and relationships are not reflective of the good people who take marriage serious. Marriages and relationships are not inherently bad nor are they the cause for the failures we hear about! The reasons why they fail are reflective of the integrity of one or both people involved. We live in a world today were so many people are selfish. It only takes one of the two people involved to be selfish. Many of the sexual questions asked right here on GAG are a prime example and reflection of the selfishness I speak of. People wanting to do disrespectful and unconscionable things to their partner or spouse. Making it all about their pleasure while dehumanizing and objectifying the other person. People wanting to have hook-ups and friends with benefits while completely disregarding the needs of the other person who may want to be loved. And then you have people who will get involved in a relationship or become married just to satisfy the other person involved by making them think that they care. But once the commitments are made, they treat the person like any other friends with benefits situation, like a complete and total ass. The institution of marriage has always been a wonderful and holy one. It’s some of the people who get involved that are the cause of failure and disappointment. Those people shouldn’t be involved with anyone in any type of relationship, sexually or otherwise! They aren’t mature enough to handle the realities of life and being a part of something greater than themselves!
Relationships serve only the interests of women. And the way marriage today turns men to slaves, literally, for me it's absolutely insane when I hear men say things like "yeah my goal is to put a ring on her finger. She's the one."
These men have no fucking idea what they're doing.
I don't think the concept is overrated - if you love someone, and you both make an agreement to be faithful and true to one another, then I think that is an important thing that you have every right to celebrate through marriage, a relationship, or whatnot. It is something that should be taken seriously so as to not cause harm to each other.
The concept of marriage is outdated and overrated though - I don't believe a legal contract is necessary to prove that you love someone, and the only true purpose in it is for tax purposes. Other than that it's a piece of paper. If you want to get married, sure, go ahead, but there doesn't need to be this pressure towards those who do seek to escape a marriage contract or who break up with a boyfriend or girlfriend (assuming their reasonings are legit and logical).
m i say this all the time, you go to these big elaborate weddings promising all eternity and then they're divorced in 5 years. worse are elaborate second weddings when they already know better

No. Because there are actually husbands and wives out here. People pick poorly a lot and I don't feel bad for them for being irresponsible like that.
This is what happens when you date or marry based on looks, height, and other superficial stuff alone rather than character, how they prioritize and handle responsibilities, and how much of a good partner they are.

It's definitely pointless for people who use their reproductive organs to pick their partner, which is the vast majority.
