Was it ok to break up with abusive boyfriend via sms?

My boyfriend abused me verbally. When he blocked my arms, pressed to the bed and shouted in face to make me do things he wanted me to do, I left his apartment in terror. The next morning I messaged him that I’m grateful for good things we had but I cannot take the humiliation anymore and broke up. Was it okay for me to break up via sms if I was abused?

That is probably the rare times it's okay to break up with someone via text- if telling them in person jeopardizes your health and safety.

If he's abusive now, imagine if you would have told him in person it was over! Nah...
Just be careful, and have some of your close friends and family avaliable.
People like that don't take rejection well and he might come after you... hopefully not.

yes it's okay in this situation. obviously don't want to put yourself in a dangerous situation, since he is clearly already abusive, so who knows what would have happened. glad you're out. now block him and make sure you are careful and be safe.
