Does no contact rule works if you're the one who break things up?

If you're the one who demands that the two of you should cut contact because you notice the other person acting uninterested and distant, you've tried to ask them if there's something wrong, but they deny it. However, you know something is definitely wrong because they have been acting differently than they used to. Can you still contact them after some days to see if they have had a change of heart or something? Will the no-contact tactic work if you're the one who initiated the breakup?

If you were the one who suggested no contact or a breakup then I think it's okay to checkin after a few days and test the waters. I think the bigger question is -- is this relationship right for you? This is the perfect time to reevaluate the relationship and see if this connection is worth fighting for. It will also give the other person a chance to miss you and the relationship. I personally would give it some space and see what happens. If after you test the waters and nothing really seemed to change, I'd move on.
