Why did my ex restrict me on Facebook but not block me?

My ex and i mutually broke up and i haven’t said anything to him in almost a week today i went to our message thread and his name was removed. I went to his page and saw that im restricted from messaging him but he can still see my full profile.. why did he restrict me from messaging me and not restrict my whole profile or why didn’t he just full on block me i haven’t even been messing with him

The nature of the restriction says it all. He wants to be able to know what you're up to (basically keep a tab on you), but also just do his own thing. People who do this usually do it just to see if you're doing better than they are in their lives. It's usually immaturity and refusing to entirely move on to the next part of their life.

Functionally the same thing. Don't worry about the differentiation. I actually prefer to restrict over block unless the person is dangerous. You might want to just block or restrict and forget about it yourself.

I don't know why He did this to you. But I think once two people break up, it is natural for them to go their separate ways. The problem with social media, is it temps people to stay in contact with each other. This is fine when you and other person are still good friends. But not so good when you are ready to move on. I think it emotionally messes people up.

Don't overthink anything an ex does, he's probably just trying to ween off you. Some guys completely block, some stay friends, who knows. Either way not worth your energy.

Men can be emotional too, maybe you post something and he thinks about you, maybe he's restricting so he won't do something while he drunk, maybe he's seeing someone else. Either way, you deserve better than to reflect on it.
