How did sex work back when we were cavemen?

i don't mean HOW did people have sex, I mean how did cavemen decide who they had sex with. I'm talking about back when reproducing was really important, like when the infant mortality rate was about 20%, cause I've heard that back then people didn't live very long. but did women only have sex with the strongest guys? and how did the men convince the woman to sleep with him? and would the man move on to the next woman once he got the last one pregnant? like if a guy saw a woman who wasn't pregnant, would he automatically go over to her and have sex with her? and did they only have sex with people in their own age group? or were there 16 years old guys and 30 year old women having sex together, who were both in their sexual primes?

Well we have no sure way of knowing but it's believed that over time mating bahviour slowly evolved to what we know now, because it has proven to be the most efficient system

It's hard to tell where it all began, but many people belive one of the first systems were ones in which children were raised by the whole group. Women would prefer to sleep with the best genetic matches available but also consider sleeping with less desirable men. In fact it's believed that the purpose menstrual synchrony is to assure more genetic variety. If all women are fetile at the same time the most desirable men can't get to all of them. Instead many will get pregnant by less attractie/strog men. Men would basically just sleep with whoever they could, fight for the alpha position and kill each others children.

As a result we probably evolved relativley quickly to a different system. Polygamy does hardly work for a group with equally male and female members. So instead it's believed people started pair bonding. Slowly changing the ubringing of children from the whole group to individual pairs, while still sharing rescources. Which lead to men being more picky in the attractivness of their mate and womenn compromising good genes for good parenting skills.And of course just as now people cheated.

And then agriculture changed our mating behvious drastically, probably back to a more polygamous system. If you're really interested read "the red queen"

As for one of your question men would sleep with whoever they could and I'm sure rape was more common than today. But biology doesn't favour rape.

If a guy was muscular and was powerful, he had many women come crawling to him.

If a woman was beautiful, she had guys crawling over her.

Men competed for beautiful women.

Women competed for a one guy until a better guy came along.

Good thing people aren't like this anymore.

I read somewhere that our ancestor's were like chimpanzees in the way that the ovulating female chimp would mate with as many as she can or all the males in the troop so that when the baby is born no one knows who's it is so no male will kill it to send her back into ovulation to mate with her. I read that is how our caveman ancestor's behaved too.

Yeah no doubt 30 year old women and 16 year old boys had sex togather like you said they are in their sexual prime and are kind of drawn to each other I'm sure the 30 year old cavemen males also had sex with 30 year old women I'm sure it was like a big orgy back then. Also the men were bastards back then and if the women wasn't willing the male would just hit her in the head with their clubs drag her back to the cave and rape her. Yeah I'm sure the women were drawn the strongest alpha male and I'm certain they fought each other for mating rights. Yeah I think that when a man saw a woman who was not pregnant he would try and mate with her. I'm sure the ''Baby Bump'' was like a no trespassing sign to other males when they saw a pregnant female and probably dident try to mate with her and just moved on to anther woman that wasn't pregnant. I also belive that older males like I don't know 30 and up had sex with girls barely old enough to conceive...like around 12-15... where I'm from people like that drive vans... lol that would suck living at that time. Especially as a woman no offense intended women are very admirable in their ability to conceive and give birth and women are awsome. But I do wounder if there were gay and lesbian cave men and women.. yeah I'm positive that age did not matter back then they would sleep with whoever they found attractive for the males it was the prettiest cave woman probably with big breasts to show their fertility and the women were probably attracted to the strongest caveman who could provide and protect them from other cavemen.

I don't recall if it is from aboriginal tribes today, or something from recorded history that it was believed women would get pregnant after receiving enough semen. Like, women needed to be sexed a number of times before they'd get pregnant.

It's silly. But that's a good guess before scientific method.
