No but in all seriousness I wouldn't really be considered alternative by most that look at me but I had a bunch of friends like what you described growing up and they were all awesome people.
I would date a chick like this but I never see them.
The ones I do are already with their boyfriends. And after all, looks aren't everything so it depends on the person.
If interests play a role here, comic books, video games, gothic literature, horror movies, traveling, nature, palmistry and tarot, and esoteric philosophies... all this stuff I actually enjoy even tho everyone doesn't.
"Alternative" to what exactly? Its all been done before and far from unconventional all these alternative girls are actually conventional. Think about today everyone wants to be a unique snowflake or ride some mystical unicorn through the gates of valhalla when the actually are all marching in uniform to the conformist beat of tge corporate machine selling pixie dust.
Although I guess I might be considered "alternative " I still see this my take kinda like *hair flip* " I'm not like OTHER women."
There's no reason why a girl who is conventionally girly or "average" can't have these qualities.
All for alternative women, but I feel you missed some emphasis on the best part. Where she's just not like all the other girls you dated.
Not having to go through all the "Oh wait, I've done this before." moments with someone entirely new is refreshing.
Not I. I am more into more traditional-like feminine women, women that are "edgy" don't entice me at all.
Alternative means something different or opposite. Your just a woman with weird tastes from what I can see. Should've seen punks in the 70s and early 80s. They make you look like a Sunday school choir

I don't mind "alternative" as long as she doesn't dress over the top. I went through a phase of growing a mohawk, dying it blue, red, purple etc. Iater I shaved it off and looked a bit more normal. There's looking different and there's looking silly.

Well, the article did not really change my view because I already wanted someone like that! I'm honestly only interested in people who do their own thing and don't just try to fit into society and play the social status game.
Frankly, because the "alternative" women would not have given me the time of day back then in those days. In and of itself, her gothy-ness or punky-ness was not a turn off, quite the contrary.
I don't know... when I hear alternative I actually hear "likes to get around a lot" or "into polyamorous relationships"... things which don't fly with me.
same here, but not with tattoos, but with piercing... I have one in my belly... sometimes i hear not pleasant things about it, like "if u put away that metal from ur body" or "girls with belly piercing crave for attention and easy"

AGREE 1000% I've met quite a few women like that and yeah I would totally date any of them, well, if they are still single after this new project I'm working on that is. :P
