Men have standards. They just have standards a lot lower than women. Exactly how do you define what is high and what is low? If I say I have any standards whatsoever, are you going to say they're high? It's about in contrast to women. And, in any case, I have higher standards than most men. Even if I did have high standards, that doesn't prove that all men have high standards.
Are you saying that women don't have high standards in contrast to men?

I don't think so. My point was that it's not hard to look decently attractive--you don't even have to be in amazing shape. (see kate upton.) Also the simple importance of hair was another point--Emma Watson and JLaw.
They look in pretty good shape to me. Not what I'd call examples of realistic beauty standard. Also if a girl can go from hot to ugly with just a hair cut makes your standards seem arbitrary.

However, I am a very rare man. Women wish that men cared more about personality and less about looks, but, trust me, you wouldn't like it. If most other men thought like me, most women would find it very difficult to get laid at all!

No. I'm talking about the Angophone West mainly, though this applies to some extent to the rest of the West too, I think. In some cultures, for exmaple, people have little to no choice about their romantic/sexual relationships. So, clearly, what I have said would not apply there.

Right, respond to what you said: I don't believe women have it "easier" because men aren't generally simpletons or animals. Also, most of them have self-respect. In other words, a nice body doesn't make up for character defects, unless we're talking one-night stands. If it's just a bang and run, most women wouldn't need a Prince Charming either. Hell, no woman COULD even pick up how bad someone is in that short a time, unless the guy made no effort at all to hide his douchey-ness.
TLDR; personality isn't a big game-changer among people just looking for sex, whether they're men or women.

I know it can seem like they're no good people left in the world. But I can promise you, there are. You just need to go out and find them.

But, there are very few substantially good people in the world. That's always been the case.
Not saints, no. But in my opinion, there are no such things as saints. Even the best people will always be flawed. They may have selfish reasons, they may doubt when they should have faith, they may have uncharitable thoughts occasionally. They make mistakes. No one is exempt from that.
But that's why I believe many people are good: they try. For the wrong reasons, for the right reasons, whether on informed or misinformed intent, they all try. In spite of the blackness and flaws that might exist in their thoughts and psyches, they struggle to be good.
Sometimes, terrible things happen because of that. But that doesn't make people cruel. It just means humanity is tragic. All the more reason to be kinder and self-aware.

And they are not selfish. Being selfish means acting rationally in one's objective self-interest. People are self-destructive.
I'd say being selfish means putting one's wants above another's needs. Or never stopping to consider what others might want/ need. How do you consider faith a part of the problem?
@Nachtmeerde If you truly live according to your self-interest, then you do consider other people's wants and needs and fulfil some of them. For example, you wouldn't last long in your job, if you didn't consider your boss's wants and needs.
Facts are not to be found through faith. Reason is the only means of acquiring knowledge, and that includes knowledge about morality.
Ok, let me revise that: selfish means not considering the needs and wants of others when it does not benefit the self. The measure of humanity being how you treat others when you're in the position of power, and all that.
Oh, you meant religious faith. That's a whole different can of worms. I meant faith in other people, in humanity. Believing that there's some good in people, that those who've done wrong may genuinely wish to do better.

How so? From what I can see, selfishness drives indifference towards human suffering. It drives economic inequality.
The problem with always relying on evidence before trusting someone is getting that evidence. There will always be imperfect situations in life where trust is demanded or required before you truly know someone. For example, dating, friendships and hostile situations.

That's part of the lesson. Girls might think Emma Watson looks amazing with short hair, so they emulate it. They need to realize that some things girls think looks great--will just kill your looks for men. So if you want a date, pick the style men find attractive, not women.
