In short, each profile is checked only as long as it takes to either find a disqualification, or check the entire profile. As soon as a fault is found, a left swipe is used. If no faults are found in the entire profile, than a right swipe is used.

What criteria then, can be used for rapid evaluation? A short list of the main disqualifying criteria, though not exhaustive, follows:

• Piercings other than the ears
• Tattoos of any kind
• Unnaturally dyed hair
• References or depictions of illegal drug use
• References or depictions of alcohol abuse
• References or depictions of motherhood
• Photos in poor taste
• Unattractive features or appearance
• Political statements of a disagreeable nature

By using these criteria, it is possible to preemptively filter most of the low quality chaff from the stream, allowing a more efficient search process.
