I have a somewhat unique experience with this type of woman:
I dated a woman for six months every weekend and sometimes during the week. We were both in our 40s. One thing I found odd is she would not allow me to see where she lived. One Friday night we were heading to a club to dance to a live band. I finally had enough of this secret she was keeping so I came right out and said to her, "either you are rich or the biggest liar I have ever known.". She said to turn the truck around. She finally showed me where she lived. Just her and two Shih Tzu dogs. In a 1/3 of a million dollar house sitting on the beach. She was rich and she told me I was the only person she could trust as I was the only person that did not know she won the lottery.

I eventually moved into that fancy shack with her and the dogs. Lived there for a couple years. We were engaged to be married. I had the rest of my life handed to me on a silver spoon.

One day I woke up with a nasty hangover from the booze and snorting coke and realized if I stay I will die. All we did was have sex and party. Money worries were completely removed from my world. So was the thought of any kind of work or employment. Just party and screw.

When I had enough of the partying and her lying to me I gave her back the cottage she gave me for my birthday, the new GMC SUV Christmas gift and all the other stuff her money paid for, loaded my old truck and left for the last time.

She was so in love with that money that she used it to control people. She had a string of law suits against two of her family members as well as a couple people who pissed her off. I wanted nothing but to get away from her and any link to her money.

She pissed away millions and when the money pit finally went dry she committed suicide. All that mattered to her was money. It meant more to her than her life.

I knew if I stayed with her I would end up dead. Her final action in this world proved that I was right.

Money is necessary. However, be very careful about those who value money too highly in their lives. Nothing good comes from the love of it.

Money will not buy you love or happiness. It will buy you everything else including a casket and burial plot.

Her love for money pushed everyone she knew away from her including me. And it eventually put her in the ground.

The experience with her is why I went back to college for the second time in my life and got a degree. Making good money is healthy. She had millions handed to her and because she was not well-adjusted to it (she did not earn it or grow up with it) she had no idea how it would ruin her life. She died with an alcoholic and broke with a self-inflicted bullet in her head. Her former husband killed himself the same way over that money.

There are a lot of stories out there on how the lottery is filling up grave yards. I seen what was coming and left before I was added to one of those graveyards.

I've dated a couple gold diggers in the past. I'm not wealthy, or even remotely close to being wealthy, but I've always been one to save up to the point where I can buy nice things if I desire to do so.
The gold diggers I dated were somewhat chameleon's. They would be a 10 in almost any guys books, but didn't try to grab your credit card. Instead, they would just walk away during scenarios where money would be apparently needed. Aka paying for dinner (magically went to the bathroom before the waiter came with the check), paying for ice cream (would find some means to go chat with someone while the clerk was asking for money), and my most favorite one to date. Saying that she would pay me back when we got home, and just go total Dom. on me when we got home (Hoping I would forget about the unpaid ball from earlier, and repay it with sex.).
In the end, gold diggers are exactly what they are... gold diggers. You are basically paying for a high priced piece of @ss, and usually it's exclusive to you until you run out of money, or she finds out that you've run out of money.

@QooLipBite I won't lie. My original intent was to date them, but shortly realized that they had the gold digger status on them, and only continued dating them for a short while after. Each of the relationships had about a month long expiration date. There's only one girl to date that I went on dates with for more than a month, and it was due to the incredible sex. To which she's probably still is on my top 3 best of all time.
Those days are over now, and I've found someone for the long term, but based on the reality to which we live. People sometimes value you more by dating someone of high standings "beautiful looks" in society. Thus, one of the girls actually lead to me getting a promotion at work. Just because the upper management thought since I was able to get such a remarkably stunning girlfriend. That I was a man of high stature. All bull if you really think of it, but it worked out in my favor in the end.

As you never want to be one who judges a book by its cover. However, just keep an eye out for those who are more concerned about money than truly living life, and I don't mean someone who is work oriented, but someone who is very much materialistic. If a girl seems to want everything paid for by you, and doesn't even really appreciate you doing so. Then that's a huge indicator.

What you refer to about the time before birth control and finding a man with money is partly right. But looking for someone financially stable is not gold digging in my opinion. From my experience, a lot of girls act like that because they think it's what guys want. I am still learning to drive so the 51 bus is my ride. I always get my card or cash out when it's time to pay but if the guy says "it's OK, my treat" I'll ask if he's sure and say I can get mine. I sometimes treat both male and female friends anI'm always sharing gum, sweets, and other food. I am quite independent but don't refuse if someone genuinely wants to buy me a drink. My friends are from lots of cultures and backgrounds and for some of them it's rude to say no if they offer. I never turn up empty handed to gatherings, I'll always be generous with what I take. It's a joke. Range Rovers are notorious for breaking down and needing a ton of expensive maintenance to keep running (they've been at the bottom of car reliability surveys for years/decades). The implication is that if she drives a Range Rover, then she clearly thinks that a massive amount of maintenance is normal, so being high-maintenance herself is much harder for her to see.
