I've been seeing a trend with straight men and it goes like this:
- If he's attractive but not successful, he wants younger women or women his own age. He won't need a lot of resources to impress them especially if he is also quite young, he can just rely on his looks. (In some cases he'll be a sugar baby - like Britney Spear's husband- and go for milfs with money though.)
- If he's successful but not attractive, he wants younger women - sugar daddy types who marry college-age girls to impress their old man buddies. Ugly nerds who got rich, didn't bother to improve their looks, and want to "prove their high school bullies wrong" by marrying a teenage model. (In some cases it will be women his own age and level of success- and even if he has 5 wives over his lifetime they'll all be his age, ex. Mark Zuckerberg)
- If he's attractive AND successful, he wants older women. (in some cases, again, he could also go for women his own age, level of attractiveness, and success. ex. Tom Holland and Zendaya.)
My theory is that the men who are attractive and successful have hordes of young and beautiful women throwing themselves at them, they don't like the lack of challenge, and they don't like the lack of prestige when it comes to impressing other men. Older women are harder to impress and everyone knows it and then there is the taboo of an age gap which can be exciting for them. When it comes to Zendaya andTom Holland she is still known for having very high standards and being hard to impress so she still provided that challenge for Tom.
I think this is what drives men like Yung Gravy, Nick Jonas, Harry Styles, and even Timothee Chalamet has dipped into this pattern of dating! Also, Pete Davidson, though I wouldn't say he's conventionally attractive, but he's still young, relatively fit, and knows how to appeal to women. He brings the humor and goofiness that older women feel invigorated by.
Of course, there are always outliers but this is just the observable pattern I've been seeing. I think that women in their 20s can benefit from knowing this and emulating the attitudes of older women. Older women are less likely to settle for hook-ups or low-effort dates and they are less likely to overlook a man's disrespect just to be chosen and avoid rejection, if he's not the right man, an older woman WANTS to be rejected so she doesn't waste any more time on the wrong relationship. They value their time and will only spend it on people who have proven they are deserving of it. A lot of men, especially the most successful and confident ones, seem to find these attributes very attractive!
