Best way to DM a girl on insta?

Say I'm in a position I really want to introduce myself to this gorgeous girl at my school but i never actually see her at school. The only other alternative is to dm her on insta. What's the best way to go about this?

Sometimes when there's a good looking guy that I don't really know, and I don't really want to straight out say hey and start a convo because I feel like that looks desperate, I'll dm them something random, but a little personal, and when they message back, I'll be like whoops that was for someone else, and then you start talking.
