+1 yThat depends on the baggage. It's a sad fact that some people who have emotional baggage should not date anyone at all, unless they have first taken enough time to heal and deal with their issues.

Everyone should feel loved no matter how broken they are. If people can't understand that, they are messed up.

+1 yEverybody has got emotional baggage, but its how one deals with said baggage that would either pull me close or push me away. That being said, Yes and no to answer your question.

+1 yWe all have baggage and it only gets heavier with time and experiences... so any successful relationship starts with two people with baggage enough to have learned after their mistakes
20 Reply depends on how bad it affects them as functional adults.
We all have issues but some people just be EXTRA
I dated a guy who wants to kill his self every few months. Calling me 2 in the morning knowing I have class or work the next day. Fights with his dad and mom. and im sitting there smiling trying to pretend we are the fucked up version of the Brady Bunch. Missing days out of work because he "depress"
I'm like dude power bill people just going to say "oh?" and then cut your lights. Then he tried to kill himself on my hardwood floor crying and shit. As he rolling around. I had my steam mop and Lysol out at 4 in the morning. I was drunk too. so he ruins my buzz. That was it. I told him good luck and I hope you like don't die or whatever. It was too much. My last words to him were "seek help"
I moved just to disappear from that crazy boy...12 Reply
+1 yDepends on how bad it is. If they're normal, happy, and confident most of the time but they occasionally have episodes where they just need some comfort. Why not? But if they're constantly moping around, being depressing, and really mentally unhealthy (for them and for me), then no I don't think I could deal with that as it would be really draining for me. But hey, if they're willing to deal with my baggage, I can deal with theirs.
20 Reply528 opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes, but maybe it’s because I also have enough baggage of my own that I can empathize? So long as we are on the same page in that he knows I don’t expect him to solve all of my problems, nor would I want him to expect me to fix all of his, we could work out.

+1 yI feel like relationships with these people fail because the other person feels the emotional pressure and then blames the break up on their issues ie "damaged goods"... I hate this and I've been the damaged person before so I needed time to myself to heal before I could involve someone else in my personal / emotional world.

I would expect mostly everyone to have some sort of issue beneath the surface and would hope they find a sense of balance. I would date someone with emotions but not drama, infact i would not wanna date someone who is perfectly happy.

Aye, I'm hearing what your saying. In today's world there's not a chance in hell that your potential SO hasn't got some sort of issue. Surely the whole point of getting into a relationship is to become a unit, and work through each others shit together?
There is a fine line of course, and some people really are "damaged goods", but hitching up with someone with a few abrasions from life to me, is pretty normal.
3.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Absolutely, if she's the right person for me. I'm understanding about things like that. People have the plasticity to get through challenges like that in life. It's not easy but getting though that can build character by having insight towards empathy others aren't exposed to.

+1 yI have a few of those, and I’m very open. I usually disclose info before anything get serious... always be honest!
But not sure if I could date someone with a lot of emotional baggage. Maybe it’s a way to help each other! As long as the conversation keep going... who knows!10 Reply
+1 ySure, I've got lots of emotional baggage too.
50% of the women I meet have been abused, assaulted, cheated on etc.
Some of the other ones have crazy fetishes, but claim they were never abused.
I think women have emotional trauma more often than not.10 Reply
+1 yI was just with a woman like this. Everyone has emotional baggage, myself included. But hers was on another level. It does become exhausting, especially because she just had a negative energy to her all of the time. So in short, yes I can deal with it in small doses. But when it dictates her moods and behaviors too much, then no.

+1 yAbsolutely, I'll be like a bellhop at a fancy hotel "can I help you with your baggage?" 🤣🤣 But seriously though who doesn't have things they've been through but the past is the past only the present matters.

🙌 and she can help me with my baggage 😁
I think it depends on how this baggage manifests. If it's all he can talk about, if it prevents him from any semblance of normalcy- that's a problem. We all have baggage.

+1 yThe biggest hurdle would be their trust issues, so no. Those with trust issues snoop around in personal effects on a level of creepy that makes one's skin crawl. Did this a couple of times. I will not date those sorts ever again if avoidable.

+1 yPersonally, no. Because I was taught to never date an individual with problems because then sooner or later, their problems will become my problems. And I deserve bettter. We all deserve a life without problems.
20 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes of course, i think it would be easier tbh cause i can understand and get what they feel and are going thou.

+1 ySure. I have a lot, so I can’t exactly reject someone for it unless it’s constantly getting in the way of our relationship.

+1 yI don't know. It would just be a case by case situation. It depends on what the issues are and how they manifest in our relationship.

+1 yI don’t know if I should, my last relationship he had a lot of baggage and he didn’t try to open up to me. It was bad.
10 ReplyNo body is perfect as long as it’s sincere it’s ok if it goes on to snide comments or negative opinions on me no. But I’m tolerant really tolerant.
+1 yNo I wouldn't because at the end of the day with the person's constant emotional ups and downs, unnecessary drama it becomes very taxing so it's better to steer clear!

But, your baggage + her baggage will turn into hoarding. Your relationship will get lost in the heaping piles of problems and then what?
+1 yOf course but only if she's normal and not a weirdo
10 Reply454 opinions shared on Dating topic. Such people are the ones that most need to be loved
21 Reply- +1 y
Yes, but the love they need isn't the kind that comes from someone else, it starts with loving themselves
+1 yMost likely not. Because usually they have an "you have to work extra hard with me" attitude because of their past experiences.
10 Reply390 opinions shared on Dating topic. Nope. I especially won't date someone where I need to get her family's approval even before we get started.
