I have gone myself numerous times to the opera and if I had a partner that likes that type of entertainment, I would certainly bring him to one.It is a unique experience and what a nice change from those raunchy music concert that leave you with buzzing in your ears and a perfect cause for a tinnitus. My all time favorite is the Magic Flute from Mozart. It gives me the shivers. That conveys so much feeling, mainly when I hear the Queen of the Night or the deep base voice of Sarastro, the father of Pamina.I know, opera is not everyone's first choice but some operas could teach a thing or two to some of the modern musicians about the harmony of musical notes and the meaning behind some of the lyrics.
I really like The Magic Flute as well.In a meta sense, what hits me the most was the bravery Mozart had in composing it - he composed it in German, challenging the prejudice that only Italian and French were suitable languages for the Opera. He laid the basis for the German language Opera with The Magic Flute.
One of my favorite movies is the movie Amadeus and the scene where Antonio Salieri explains to the priest a piece composed by Mozart. Check at 22:45 of the clip below (sorry in Spanish) but the way that Salieri explains is so intense that I am very emotional.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL_AS2PKtlw
Thank you for the MHO.
If he really wanted to go then yeah but I don't like opera so it wouldn't make sense to bring a guy who doesn't really care either way to something I wouldn't enjoy.
You are going to listen to an opera written by a German, who lived in England, about an ancient Roman, and you are doing this in northern Italy. I hope you both enjoy it. Last opera I attended was Faust by Gounod.
Yes, and the Opera is in Italian to booth!
Thanks for MHO!
I've done it a few times (mostly with a Swiss Italian gf). It's an absolutely fantastic date.
Thanks for the MHO
I might if I dated a guy who enjoyed that but I think guys prefer things like taking hikes or walks or boating and canoeing trips. Opera is more a female interest.
Don't agree here my friend. I mean maybe it is presented like that, but Opera is one of the finest arts and I think it's a matter of culture and mind to like it, not gender.
Has nothing to do with gender. It is a cultural thing. Men in my family (Irish) attend Operas.
Yes, what an opportunity!!! I would love to go at least once in my life.
No. That's not really his thing.
This is a strong move. Firstly, you better know it's a good opera. Second, you need to buy her a dress for the occasion. Shoes and a bag, too. The lead-up needs to be pampering and luxurious, maybe a little excitement beforehand. Last but not at all least importantly, you need drugs. Whatever you think you'd prefer to strap in for the evening, throw back a couple strong cocktails during intermission and you're golden. Rutting like animals on top of the parking garage is purely at your discretion; my cities have great views. And people fucking outdoors in practically Baltimore tradition. That said, I only really fuck with Meyerhoff for the symphonies and special guests. Same program but with less pomp. Girl can use her own damn bag and shoes for a symphony unless we're really trying at a concerto. Much more relaxed, at least I think so.
Only if they're willing to dress the part. I went to an Opera with someone before. We dressed to the nines and looked "overdressed" (not that we care... we love dressing up). A lot of women were wearing ripped jeans and sweatpants. Men were wearing shorts. That is unacceptable in my opinion.
I brought an 'uncultured' Canadian to the opera. She was enchanted. It was Mozart's Don Giovanni, which is definitely quite a racy and timeless work.Incidentally, I saw the seldom performed Mahler 8 last night in Manchester, it was definitely one of the most beautiful and spellbinding things I have witnessed.
Hell yeah. Operas are dope as fuck. But I guess she’d have to be the type to enjoy and opera. Some people can’t appreciate the classical arts. Don’t randomly drive her to one without knowing if she’ll enjoy it or not
If she wanted to go to an opera, I certainly would go. However, I would try to pick the opera to be one that I would have a better chance of liking. Not all operas are created equal.
I’ve always been into the arts. I would invite him just like I would go with him to something he was interested in (unless it was skydiving or bungee jumping, because I’m afraid of heights lol)
My wife and I went to the opera. We both love classical music, though she is more a fan of opera than I am.
No because I've tried to like Opera but I can't. It has to do with the high soprano voice levels.
Ooh god no, 🙄 you couldnt even pay me to attend an opera I hate musical with a passion and I can barely stand ballet. I much rather go to a football or hockey game.
Im not sure.. it would depend on if she would like it or not. Like I've only been to one opera one time and it was at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm when they showed Dracula and I didn't particularly like it that much tbh
I am always open to new experience maybe she is too
Do you have any idea how much tickets to the opera are please the audience expelling massive amounts of gas is rather take her fishing you can always turn that into a real life drama mama
If she appreciate the things you enjoy of course you can.
No, I'd rather bring my best friend. My boyfriend would just get bored to death otherwise 😅
Probably not. If she had an interest in it than I would, but even I don’t have a taste for most opera
It is really weird because I am listening to opera more. So I might but that would probably be if I was in Europe.
A girlfriend use to take me. Quite funny really in France they wet singing in Italian an I am English...
Of course. I would ask her to go anywhere that I did, and would do the same at her request.
I always do, in fact if my date does not like opera I don't think of her as cultured and smart as I imagine to be, and things start to go down :)
Of course. Just took my son to one a few months ago
No, I don't want either of us to die of boredomxx~ Mrs Manson
I would if I had a partner. We probably fall asleep. We say, "What the F is this lady saying?"
Only if I had some of those glasses that make it appear your eyes are open when they're not...
Only if it's a rock opera, like Green Day or Tenacious D lol
I'm legit jealous, that's one of my favourite operas
The first question should be will I even go to the opera?
I'd rather take her to something either of us would actually enjoy xD
I'd love going if i was invited but i think not everyone likes it
No... because I know he wouldn't enjoy it...
Of course... if I ever attended opera.
If they are into it, sure.
Nope, I don't even like it.
If I loved it, I would want to share it. Yes.
I wouldn’t even bring my own self to the opera
Yes, if she desired to go.
No I would not
Yes I would
Not really our gig
No, not our thing.
