My boyfriend is a sex offender?

I have been with this man for 3-4 months. I’m 22 and he is 29. Well a couple of weeks ago I saw a picture of his mugshot in Georgia. It was filed in 2014. Well I approach about it to him today and he said he was at his cousins house and a incident happen when was 19 and was convicted 4 years later. he says he is innocent because he never touched the girl which he was 19 and she was 15. he also said all his cousins were arrested for something else. I don't know wether to believe the story or not because he told me that his mom kicked him out 2-3 days ago because she smelt some weed and he told me he smoked recently. secondly his credit score is in the 500s which means he cannot finance or buy a car.3rd on Facebook in 2014 he has a picture of his daughter he claims he has. I just believe he is hiding a lot more than what I’m seeing. I told him I just want to be “friends” because i don’t want to get to involved/

marry someone who has a bad credit score and criminal record. He said he’s innocent and trying to get a lawyer to take it off but based on his behavior I doubt he is innocent. well this morning his mom called saying he did kick him out because has behavioral issues and she said that it is better to stay friends so he can straighten himself and his record out. as a grown person she is more likely right. She always has problems with him since he turnt 18. am I right just staying friends. he loves me but I can see he doesn’t make right decisions. and who knows how many women he slept with.

Touching a girl is not necessary to make one a sex offender. This excuse sounds very much like cardinal Pell's "It was just plain vanilla penetration of a child, it is not that bad." defense.

If you are convicted in court that has to be evidence brought to trial etc. Dont believe a word this guy says. He was a horny 19 year old kid and had sex with a 15 year old. That has some huge life consequences. You add up all the drama and he's not dateable in my book.
