Whenever I meet someone I google them. I don’t think my sister knows he’s a sex offender because he lied about a lot of things my sister has a a daughter. Her ex husband was and is a family friend and the marriage didn’t end bad and they coparent well so Ik the type of heat this will get If I can’t at least read his case before I talk to my sister and her ex husband because they need to know. So they can talk to him and figure out a plan. Anyway you can look up cases? I don’t know how much jail time he served how old the lady was. And honestly I would like to read the transcript before I make a judgment. He could’ve been 18 and his girlfriend was 17 and he had a bad relationship with her parents as the age of consent is 18 here in Michigan. I literally know someone who was in a committed relationship with someone since the 9 grade and the girls mom tried to press charges on him because he was 18 and she 17 and she got pregnant. Luckily they all talked everything out before she actually went and pressed charges. And now 7 years later they are married two kids and both graduated from central Michigan with me. But help please sorry for the tangents lol

This is all public knowledge. If you know where (county, state) the offense took place you can see the docket and get all the details of the case including the victim he "assaulted" just in case it is one of those 18/17 cases. But I'd still make your sister aware. Regardless if he's lying to her that's not a great idea. And to play devil's advocate here may be too scared to tell her some of his truths due to her judging him just in case she has a worse sense of what happened that what actually happened. But it still needs to be out there for the safety of your niece. GL

Do you know why he's on the sex offender list? Do you know that he served time in jail? I've heard of people being arrested for urinating in public, like leaving a bar and taking a leak in the parking lot. They become registered sex offenders for that, because they exposed themselves in public. Maybe talk to him, ask him questions. Or tell him a story about something stupid or crazy you did, even if you make it up. It might get him to open up a bit.
