Girls, why do you always want to go to expensive restaurants rather than home cooked (know each other for some time, not first meet) ?

I am still a student (researcher ) ... Don't make much money , most of it goes to tuition fees...
I met this girl.. Dated... I cannot afford expensive restaurents. She broke up and stated dating another guy who is way older than me and takes her to expensive places..
I made her home cooked meals so many times. Sometimes gave my portion of food too what she liked much... It's not like she didn't like them... I do cook well even better than many big restaurents...
But she was never fully happy...
I guess it's a mistake to make home cooked food , better take to food joints...

Yeah I get it what you are saying. I was a fool , I did everything for her without expect much in return , so got taken for granted.. Not repeating the mistake ever again...
But it's sad to think yours hours of cooking are invalid cause she wants to get dolled up in a fancy restaurant...

Well your efforts shouldn’t be invalid. But perhaps the lesson is to :
1. Remember that doing things you appreciate is a kind gesture that should be appreciated. But doing something someone else wants is what will be most exciting and impressive to someone, regardless of whether it is “fancy” or not
2. I’m not sure the lesson is to put forth less effort going forward. There are benefits to being with someone you want to go out of your way for. The key would be not to do that for someone who is self entitled

Yeah but I am general nice in nature and love cooking so if anyone ask I may be cook a meal for them 😐... My control in this isn't much good , it's better to not at all

Depends on the girl. But I honestly believe there should be a good balanced. Home cook is more romantic & sentimental esp when the guy personally took his time to cook for his girl. Adding with a little magic with his food creativity or setting for thoughts. Taking girls out on restaurant is also really fun, exciting, and outing to do something new together. Another fun thing for girls to dolled up, build new memories with her man, and have someone to take care of her.


However, I hope you find a girl that appreciate you for you and all that you do :) I would have been happy if I have a boyfriend who likes cooking for me and then we can also cook together esp in undergraduate circumstances.

See , I also like eating outside sometimes exploring new places but I can take only to medium places nothing too fancy , maybe later in life but not now... and I do make food from different countries 😐
Anyways it's hard to find girls with that mentality now 😑

You’re fine the way you are. Nothing is wrong the way she is either. Wanna know why? Because you guys are just you. The best thing two people can do in terms of dating/relationships is being considerate, understanding, and supportive of one another 🙂 You both just weren’t eye to eye. Both needed more understanding and effort in different ways.

For a while I wouldn’t want him to cook anything for me. I don’t feel comfortable going into his dorm or apartment alone or letting him prepare my food. It’s not safe and I wouldn’t trust him enough for that unless we were close before we started dating. But before I trust him enough for home-cooked meals I don’t expect expensive restaurants- affordable nights out are fine.

I have already said that it can get weird if you ask too soon to come to your place.. But it's about if you know the person for some time...
