I believe so. @OlderAndWiser put it pretty well, but I will add my own piece too.
Having standards and wanting a partner ideal to you is fine, but when the standards you are searching for are very high or ones you don't even hold or match yourself, you will struggle and fail.
I think the basic standards for most guys is that a woman looks attractive to them (subjective of course), supportive and fun to be around, not harping on them or getting in their faces about every small thing and having a good personality. Standard 4 right there.
Thing is, people are all about instant gratification a dopamine hits which we are constantly exposed to with phones and social media. Rather than working out conflict or discussing issues that come with a relationship, people jump ship immediately to find someone else. People would rather avoid conflict by finding the next best person they are compatible with than working and growing.
With dating being a lot harder these days than it was for our parents growing up, it is harder to find lasting relationships. I got lucky with my girlfriend when we met online, but let's use that as the example with dating to go with dating apps. The majority of the time, it is attractive guys that will be chosen because you are not only competing against each other on a physical appearance level, but a competitive level in terms of lifestyle and social standing. Men who are well off and look good with good friend and connections will be in the crosshairs of most women whereas an average joe with an okay job will get a hit here and there, but have to really be good at game to keep a woman interested. Saying one wrong thing or something that turns her odd, you get cast aside quick.
Women have it easier despite appearances and career because there are more men using these apps than women. Women could get dozens of suitors within minutes and may not even have a profile filled out or a photo. They get their picks of the guys that catch their eyes and stand out. Not being jaded or saying it's wrong by any means, but trying to cast light at truth.
TL;DR nitpicks are present in both genders were, but there are certain factors that come into it, namely overestimation of what people believe they deserve and lack of commitment through relationships and growth through conflict and disagreements that come up.
I enjoyed reading your comment and gave it a "thumbs up." If you don't mind me asking for your opinion, if a woman has so many suitors to choose from, and she finds several that meets her high standards then why are so many women in lousy relationships with these "high-quality men?"
@David92506 thanks, and sure. I will respond to that.
We can call this "hypergamy" the belief that women are always looking for better when they may even have a great guy and a good relationship. They want the best.
Now, with that out of the way, let's dive into it. Women may find themselves in these situations despite having a pick for a number of factors which can range from sex to resources to personality and lifestyle. It could be argued that whatever is keeping them together is good enough for her not to want to leave yet. Key word, yet. It takes effort and time dor new relationships amd the ability to have a choice from a big pool is you can test the waters amd choose the best prospects. Like the NFL draft, the only difference is that you are always getting the first choice of the best players in the same round or every choice of the top guys per round, if that makes sense.
They hang on to the lousy relationship and then when the better guy comes, they leave for him when it looks promising. It takes about 90 days for someone's personality to come into light. After that, you start seeing their real character. Conflict and all of that could have been built to that marker, but the concept still applies.
How much is one willing to put up with before they tap out and move on.
@ShadezMcgee
From reading your response, I get the impression that a lot of women are shallow.
@David92506 no, not all of them are. Let me be clear with that. The shallow ones give a lot of women a bad name because they are the ones you hear about frequently from things they have done.
I said in my original post this goes both ways. Men and women can be shallow. I am shallow to a degree in terms of dating, but to one standard being physical attraction. As much as personality wins me over and matters to me, if I am not physically attracted to her, I know it won't work for me and the relationship would suffer. I know I am a dick for saying it, but I am being honest.
@David92506 you shouldn't base your impression of women off one man's opinion which is opinion not fact!
@Brainsbeforebeauty thank you for chipping in there and adding to that bit. I wanted to let him know full out that I do not believe all or most women are like this.
And like you said, an opinion should not be taken as the end all be all.
And also men can be that way as well
Exactly. I used myself as an example in my follow up answer and said that to make my point
Touche you did. The delay on gag sometimes I didn't see the last two replies you left to him till now 🤷🏼♀️ And I agree there's shallow women and men, and people should stop trying to lump all women or all men the same based off the actions of "some"
Not nitpicky. Just people who have no idea how to date, have a partner, and keep a partner. A lot of people have standards that a good amount don't even do for themselves or even bother to meet. I had people call me picky, but I can afford it. I meet my standards or at least work extremely hard towards them and when I meet them, I feel highly accomplished. The issue that I see is is that people no longer want to put in the work! So many people disqualify themselves and do things that make them disqualifiable.
I don't agree with premarital sex, yet the majority have done so and put themselves in sexual ruts in every aspect of the relationship. The type of relationship they want, they can't achieve it because they already did the wrong things and they don't want to change from it.
Do others have an outlandish physical requirement that really makes me wonder why do they even bother? They think picking a person is like picking a car based on what they see. Yet they don't even respect their own "Cars" as they don't people. They look at the specs, etc, but don't want to invest.
When it comes to dating, looking at flaws is essential. It does affect the quality of relationships you want. However, I say the issue is the intent behind them. I just dealt with a heated discussion with a guy who is angry I told him the truth. If your sleeping with people who are already taken and cheated on their partners for you, you don't want to date them and had partners before and talk about how you were happy, how then are you not in relationships now? There is much hypocrisy with people.
The others, talking about what a woman needs to provide, yet the same question is again, why would any woman in their right mind want a guy who behaves how they do. To DEMAND a woman is this way or that way, yet isn't so steller themselves?
The truth is we are called as human beings to be perfect, not that we aren't, because we're not, but to strive for it for God. And people have forgotten that. The source of negative nitpicking is disappointment and they want what they want out of selfish want. Not nitpick in a way of finding somebody who is a suitable match for you. I have seen men especially who had so MUCH POTENTIAL and they slept around, doing things I don't agree with, and shamed me for my personal choices. They say they want "love", yet do things that prevented them from doing so.
So they didn't become too nitpicky, they just became more selfish and inhuman. Morals and values have gone out the door now. Nowadays you have to be EXTRA careful. People are sleeping around even in relationships, or what I'm now hearing this freak fest mess down in Florida, and people making porn vids online. This is sickening. Unlike the 1500s to late '50s, is there ever such thing as "dating" and a "partner" anymore? Sounds like the future is very bleak. And I am glad I never dated at all. No point.
I think that our society has forgotten the definition of what love is supposed to be. In our society, beauty, money and status is becoming our definition of falling in love. When you're looking for a date , its always approaching the hottest girls at the bar scene. Or the falling in love means the second your heart melted when you lay eyes on the rich handsome young guy across the room. People seem to have forgotten that falling in love really means thoroughly enjoying someone's else's company, not some superficial attraction such as money, beauty or status. Money and beauty can definitely get you infatuated. But it won't make you fall in love.
When you marry, you marry the person, not the person with makeup.
We have delusions of finding our "soulmate" and hold extremely high expectations of marriage. Men think that their partners should be fit every aspect of what they are seeking in a woman such as the right body, right face, right personality, right character, needs to be blah blah blah... There isn't someone 100% so perfect. Just because she's not as pretty as you expected, it doesn't mean that you can't fall in love with her.
Overall, i think most people tend to become less nitpicky as they get older, when they begin to realize that their time is running out and their dating pool gradually growing slimmer and slimmer. But shallow young people tend to become shallow old people. And frequently shallow folks tend to stay unmarried until older age.
Great answer! Except I don't think older people get more desperate. I think as they get older, they realize what really important in life and in a relationship
Im out of this poll but I'm share my thoughts on this.
1. Everything this days is about perfection which 99% of the people out there can't even support or have evidence that they are that perfect.
2. The pictures you have on those said dating apps are so fake we can all see trough it. I can't remember thr last time I've seen a picture without filters. And you expect to be treated different? Nope that's not how it works.
3. The things people expect from the opposite gender is way overboard. How about settle for something normal and true. Then a lie which is not going to last.
4. Gym is overrated this days. It's about being healthy not about a way of life or something that is required. It's each person own choice if he wants to go to the gym or use it.
5. Get to know that person first! Each of you out there have missed a good match because you want to much from them and you can't even offer that much.
6. To perfect to be true is a huge problem out there. That was my biggest issue out there in dating. I was so focused on my job, life and learning new stuff to advance in them.
That I've stumbled on a real problem. I've become unapproachable.
Worst thing ever. Sure I've had ton of people in my life but no one dared to approach me.
Was a lonely experience and it got me in dark places. I was getting frustrated with it and angry that people are scared to approach me. Yet i decided before deleting my profile and just move on with my job.
That i should give it one last chance and there it was hope I've meet my wife she was quite the opposite of me.
I was a successful businessman, i had everything i was going to the gym all that.
And she was nice and cute but not an gym addict like me. A bit overweight but that didn't matter because she made me laugh for the first time in years. And as much as we were different we shared so much in common.
So I've decided to give her a chance as she gave me a chance too. And you know what it was worth it. We are married we have a kid. She goes from time to time to the gym as i do share her hobbies.
All it matters is respect for each other and a peaceful life. With lot's of talking and growth.
So all it took was for me to remove all those standards i had and just go for the unexpected.
And asking to much is just to much. How about asking for a little and then get everything you wished for in life.
We are all so different yet at times the same.
And yes people are to picky when it comes to dating.
As my wife said you were to much to chew on but i dared to dream.
Love this answer 💜👍👍

------------------I think the ones who are super picky have no real intention in finding someone. You don't have to settle, you can have standards but you won't ever be happy if you always find something wrong with someone.
We all have flaws. Your flaws though are perfect for the heart that is meant for you.
Well said Coach 👍🙂
Thank you!
Welcome 🙂
Young people expect that a relationship will be like a day in the park every day. At the first sign of trouble, they assume that the relationship is a bad match and they need to break up. What an unrealistic expectation!
Conflict in inevitable in relationships because no couple is "perfectly" matched. In a good relationship, couples discuss the conflict and look for ways to resolve the conflict rather than breaking up.
Well said, so true
I enjoyed reading your comment and gave it a"thumbs up." It seems to me that those two people who are willing to discuss the conflict and not blame each other require a lot of maturity. Something that is rare in today's world.
I look for guys who are tolerant and don’t operate by binary rules - like I would not want my future husband to divorce me if I drool in my sleep or if I get some illness and smell for a month or or if I develop poor coordination and am messy when I eat. My parents are both superficial and I can’t talk to them for more than 2 minutes without being criticized in some way. I want a guy who is able to tolerate imperfection in people.
👍👍
I think for many women, smartphones, social media and online dating has definitely artificially inflated their standards, especially for the younger generations.
If a woman gets hundreds of likes, swipes, she assumes she can a land a better guy. If she goes out and in her mind dates, but is played by guys out of her league, she feels that she has settle to find a serious boyfriend. That's not a good place to be. Always concerned that she didn't hold out for the best guy, that pretty much doesn't exist. Like great looks, great personality, great status, resources, tall, strong and well-mannered with a full head of hair. We are talking less than 2% of the total male population.
The part that is disconcerting is that even average to less than average girls grade themselves way too high. They too are searching from a massive online pool, and many guys give them some attention, and they're hooked. What makes these odd is that these girls will jump into bed very quickly being very competitive to win the guy and have very high notch counts. For average guys, this sort of girl is not one you want to take home to mama.
And what it's doing to the guys is horrible. Many are dropping out of the dating market. Most average guys don't stand a chance for even a date. It's not uncommon to find men who are still virgins in their 20's and 30's. Not a few, but a lot. The vast amount of guys have so little to show, and often want to settle quickly if desperate, and this is never positive long-term. It's setting up for a lot of hurt feelings, anger and divorce.
And marriages and families are plummeting. There are armies of single mothers and unhappy guys. With the birthrate falling, government will try to incentivize births, but between the younger generations believing that we need to go child-free and the expense of multiple kids, in reality government needs to cut all credits, social programs and essentially force people to have a reason to be together.
Right now, there is not. Just excuses and a Disney ending.
Nowadays absolutely, most people are brainwashed by social media and the variety of people , so most people have strict preferences on what they are looking for , it’s a sad world we live in and I feel social media was a big part of destroying it , if you notice people aren’t as content anymore more people are selfish and only want what’s best for them , constantly thinking grass is greener on the other side , comparing their lives with others , back then we didn’t know what was going on with other people’s lives Cuz we didn’t have smartphones by our hips at all times and social apps like Facebook or Instagram etc. I think MySpace was the first one to start it all to be honest , I asked my parents how their marriage lasted so long and my Dad said Cuz we didn't play on smartphones , which I agree with him , If people actually put their phones down and looked at the world around them they will realize social media is the biggest joke their is and that it is a money maker and false reality , I still play on my smartphone now but little by little I been removing myself from it and not allowing it to take over my life , if I get into a relationship again , I am deleting all of it and focusing on my partner not giving a shit what other people that don’t matter are doing
Great, great answer? Agree 💯 and same with me and my hubby, no social media, maybe that's why we lasted 20 years. And if he was still alive, I doubt I'd even be on GAG, and this the only social site I'm on. No Facebook, Snapchat, insta
Been 7 1/2 years... Guess I should be over it by now, but 🤷🏼♀️
I feel like they always have been, or at least those feelings have been there, but lack of options, especially an infinite line of more options if you exhaust your current ones, made them smarter and keep their mouths shut about things that would drive off potential mates, as well as (mostly) actions that would do the same.
The enormous amount of options that are available for dating, long term, making babies or what have you over the past couple decades I think are making people not choose anything, because there will always be more choices. Anyone who runs a restaurant will tell you to streamline those choices, or lose customers. In this case the restaurants name would be marriage and reproduction.
Women complain about men ghosting them and fuck-bois, while men complain about hypergamy and gold-diggers. Meanwhile neither changes their behavior for the better, but if anything acts more towards the stereotypes out of spite. They grow older and get more salty, more entrenched in their beliefs, until the 20's are over.
Then you have men and women in their 30's now positively desperate for a relationship, who have 0 meaningful relationships in the past spouting off nonsense which is pretty much identical. Men talking about how they'll get rich so they won't need women, but paradoxically will have all the women. Women talking about how it's fine, really, they don't need a man, they're going to have a kid on their own, as they planned the whole time. I mean, I guess the women could immaculately conceive, but it's another paradox as they will need a man for the sperm if they want that baby.
I don't get why those particular attitudes got picked up, but I do firmly believe that it is the result of having too many choices, or rather the illusion of infinite choices.
Great answer
People have become very independent. People have always been selfish (myself included, I think it's human nature) and today's culture/technology allows us to rely less and less on other human beings for our needs. This has led to isolation/alienation and people are not as good at interacting with others anymore. So it leads to more and more isolation.
Everyone knows what the issue is, from kids to grandparents: phones. Everyone looks at their phone and ignores everyone around them. I have been on the cusp of this happening and watched as people slowly turned away from each other and into their phones. But no one is doing anything about it. I tried for a while to keep connecting with people, but eventually I started looking at my phone as well.
We still interact in places like this on the internet, chats, apps like Tinder, Bumble, WhatsApp, FaceTime, and social media. It's not like we don't talk to coworkers, fellow students and community members. But actual, intimate, deep and meaningful relationships are few. I feel very blessed with the interactions and connections I have.
I actually had a conversation thread on another question about people judging by looks and the girl I was talking to was so incredulous I had deep connections with other people who actually give a shit about me that she accused me of lying about my life. Her perspective is not unique, I work with several people who have disclosed that they have no true friends and I have met several other people who I found out they feel 100% alone in this world, including relationships they have/had with family members and people they went to school with or were childhood friends with. It's very scary.
I can't say in general, but as we move from relationship to relationship there are things we will never accept. Try a divorce for sure and you won't put up with any of that crap that next time, which is why first marriages are the most likely to succeed. Additional ones rarely do, thus they drive up the divorce rate... when 2nd, 3rd and 4th marriages have such high failure rates.
Yet sometimes even basic stuff, like having a job and being responsible seems like your being too picky anymore.
The more someone puts up 'requirements' the more they don't really want a relationship.
Think those people who have been married forever had it easy? My grandparents got married at 15 and 16 years old and were married for nearly 70 years. My parents are coming up on 60 years.
Those that marry younger, grow and adapt together. Those that wait until they are older, tend to be more set in stone and unwilling to adapt or grow with someone and wants to find some perfect person and doesn't exist. Yet if they do find that perfect person, they are not the perfect one for them.
Really, I've seen otherwise. Usually the second marriage lasts, cuz you learn from the mistakes if the first. My first marriage lasted 4 years. My second-20 till the passed away or it'd be 28 years now
That is just what the stats show, the 50% divorce rate is not 1st time marriages, that is all of them... its like 41% of first time ones fail and 60%+ for 2nd and each one it goes higher. Congrats that you got 20 years.
My ex is on husband #4 or 5... as I don't keep in touch anymore. Clearly she fits in with the each additional one not lasting quite well.
I think that became the norm, especially for younger people. There are plenty of dating apps available - it's like you have a catalog of potential partners on your hands 24/7, which makes people look ”expendable”. At the slightest inconvenience, they think ”this isn't a big deal. I have 20 other matches I can try out”. And then, the mere idea of swiping/scrolling gives you the illusion that something ”superior” is just around the corner.
I do believe in compatibility, but compatibility is something you also have to work on, to build it - which is something a lot of people ignore.
I agree
I don't know. Maybe with all the available media imagery, not just in magazines and on TV, but on-line, people have idea about the perfect bod. The standards are unrealistically high.
But when I read comments, I realize that some people have really high standards, such as body count and other things.
I also get the impression that some people are looking for instant success. They don't just go on dates and see how it goes. They have to get to know the person on-line or via interminable texting.
I think texting and online is killing relationships too.
I'm not sure the term "nit-picky" would be the most appropriate.
Our society- advertising, media (especially fake), try to convince us that if a guy uses a certain razor and a gal wears a certain bra that people will beat a path to their proverbial drawer. Then hard reality sets in when IT. DOES. NOT. HAPPEN.
So, maybe it's more of a "disappointment" about being mislead or having too great of an expectation due to changing society mores. Put another way, the seeker of the "perfect partner" could be perceived as "nit-picky" because they are finding it hard to find someone who is even marginally functional (I exaggerate, but not a lot).
Perfect don't exist, not in people, none of us are perfect
We agree on that, of course - and I'm a big offender on the "imperfect" meter. Society, advertising, social media and all the rest of it put out the "info" that gives the appearance that people CAN be perfect, and some can't accept that reality. Maybe they feel cheated out of a level playing field. Maybe they feel it was something that they did (other than believing all this perfect poop propaganda).
Probably right there
Perhaps. I know I have, but I've always been nitpicky. It's just worse now. I blame social media. With social media you have this illusion of abundance. Why go with an in-person girl with small tits when I can hop on social media or dating apps and find a dozen hotter women with D-cups in the span of 5 minutes? We get attracted to their pictures and the illusion of what they could be. But in person, they're less attractive than their pictures and their personality is often a lot less to be desired. But that won't stop us from staying on these sites to try to upgrade because "your perfect match is just one swipe away!" Thanks dating apps.
There is no such thing as "perfect"
Till you die with the reality of alone 🤷🏼♀️
Because people today are to bored to make a relationship work, so they try to find someone who doesn't show any flaws.
No matter how perfect your partner seems, they will always do something that annoys you. And your relationship won't work if you don't put any effort in it.
Exactly
Yep. Everyone has standards. Expectations. In truth, those will only disappoint you and keep you from happiness and love.
Why do people set standards? Because of past experiences. Past relationships. Sorry but if someone has standards, they aren't over what happened to them in the past. They are still hurt and insecure from those experiences.
Ever hear that expression.. "If you don't heal from what hurt you, you will bleed on people who didn't cut you"
If you don't heal and take it out on the next, then you end up hurting and making the other person feel not good enough. Which will make them have standards so they don't ever feel that again or to prove to themselves that they are worth it.
Which in turn will hurt whoever they are with.
This cycle is what dating looks like these days. Technology makes it too easy to find the next. No one takes the time that's needed to get over anything.
This is why there are standards.
Is it "Nitpicky" that I want to meet, and date a lady, and by "lady" she has self-respect, and doesn't get black-out, obnoxious drunk, but rather is somewhat 'educated' being just living life or a college degree, they are similar, but different, but both can be delightful!
She takes care of herself, has a career, or a good job, and isn't a total Financial WRECK, just days from bankruptcy.
She is emotionally stable, and can deal with the average, daily 'stressors' of life, maybe she swears a bit, but can maintain her self.
She brings something, that I don't know, or haven't experienced to our relationship, as I do. . .
Is that "Too Nitpicky"?
I've never dated before, so it's hard to say, but I definitely get the impression that people are like that online or on first dates, it just seems to me that people expect perfection and any minor flaw suddenly becomes a deal breaker.
Ultimately, I'd say yes, based on the impression, but I really don't know for sure.
Good answer 👍
Thanks 👍
I think that years back your options were limited. You could meet someone in your town, through school, work or hobbies. You had to put the effort in and be willing to compromise for the sake of the bigger goal.
Today, a dating app seams to offer endless options, a bottomless pool of opportunity if you could only see through all the chaff. So much choice gives an impression that it is possible to be really choosey; to not settle and find that perfect partner. (At least for girls anyway).
I'd also add that I think thanks to more comfortable and connected lifestlye, single life is both more acceptable today and easier than it once was.
But that's the problem "perfect" don't exist
Yes I agree. So much choice gives an impression that is possible to... find that perfect partner.
Yes, in general I think people, seems to skew more towards women, have certain unreasonable expectations for whom they will date, usually by over valuing themselves or making 'grocery lists' For example, 'Man must be 6' tall, make 6 figures, and likes to go antiquing on sundays'. Men do it too, but not as much as women, in my opinion. I first need to find someone who isn't fucking nuts, then we can look at the other boxes.
Aww well there goes fighting over me cuz I'm crazy 🤪🤪😂😂😂
Actually, I think you may be my female twin. We have even obscure things in common. I will most likely to continue to fight over you.
LOL🤣
People are looking for a story book romance. They will never find someone who will be totally perfect. It's ok to have standards but you should also be flexible. A true relationship is 100% give and 100% take. You can't look at a person's flaws, you need to see the positive things about a person.
This here! 💯💜👍
Yes, I know I am. There is nothing wrong with it. As I cannot date a man I need to raise. I was raised to be strong, self sufficient, take good care of myself. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If I am ambitious, fun loving, kind and take care of myself. Why would I deserve any less? Know what you deserve and stick to your standards.
I do it by appearance and trying to find similar interests and religious views. Like a catholic that likes movies for example, or even some that believes in an afterlife with an open mind that likes board games. It is a little nichy but I want to be careful that my faith will be respected and we will start our relationship with some kind of connection
I believe that there are people who can be too nitpicky but not everyone is like that. You have to know what you want and be willing to look for it instead of just settling for anything, but you do have to make some compromises or work on some things sometimes. If it’s something big that you can’t work around then keep looking, but if it’s something small that you can work on then you have to be willing to put in the work instead of just breaking it off.
No. Just as employers have not become too nitpicky when it comes to taking on staff.
Everyone wants less drama in their lives, and more drama to watch on TV.
But too many dipshits are doing it the other way round and causing problems for the people around them.
I was not nitpicky, i just wanted someone compatable with me.
They could have been a fugly I would have not cared. If they is no click or magic, im moving on
I agree
You know, i read your question wrong. I have been out of the dating game for a few decades. in my younger years, i never fell for that either.
I think that’s part of it. I also think people don’t put in the time and energy it takes to maintain a healthy relationship. That’s necessary in order to maintain an emotional connection.
I agree 💯
Absolutely, without a doubt. Online interactions have made "the grass is greener" mentality commonplace.
Exactly
Nitpicky not sure, but people bail when arguments happen, maybe they think it's like the instagram couples, all happy stuff is seen in those posts, in the youtube videos, in the movies. As soon as there's trouble, "NOPE WE NOT MEANT TO BE BYE"
Right
I would believe so, yes.
Not everyone, but I'm sure a lot of people are.
I find people to be more picky when they already have someone.
I man/woman would find a partner that they like and still try to "change" them so they can be more to their liking, and I'm not even talking about changing them for the better.
I agree people are too Nitpicky to those who they date that is why no one can find someone Hey I'm looking for a woman with a great personality, loves to smile, loves to cuddle, loves to share quiet moments together :)
That's not too much to ask for 🙂
I think it's becoming a trend kind of thing, plus when people are using phones\pads\computers etc, that took a way the basic ability of communication which leads to this.
Right!!
Not really.. I just want to date someone ( which I am ) that is humble, funny, and can have a good time
That's good! Those are the best relationships in my opinion
I know it does!
Yes people are too picky. That's because no one wants to find a relationship that's actually based on the person's character. Its always something that involves some sort of a "trade". And that's a problem because now you're just being superficial if the only thing that matters is somebody's resources.
Right! Exactly
Yes and I think online dating is to blame. One time you only had a limited number of locals to pick from or whoever was linked to to your social circle. Now we have a choice of thousands at our fingertips, it's basically like shopping on ebay.
I think guys have for sure. They want that 10. Someone with a great personality maybe... but they have to be beautiful and attractive. That’s more important. But guys don’t want relationships anyway. They want friends with benefits. So they can keep there options open for someone better.
I think men and women have both become too picky not just men
I am glad that is something I have no desire to partake in , good job too , single dad , and I am past my prime , still in relatively decent shape for my age.
You're not past your prime
I think so, yeah. Technically, I still won't date a Washington Football Team fan... But I do understand how petty that sounds. For what it's worth.
🤣🤣
@Brainsbeforebeauty Sorry lol. I can't help it. I love my Cowboys!
Lol would you really reject someone over that. Think how much fun it could be to have fun rivalry. Your team loses, you have to (insert whatever bet ). Her team loses, she has to... See could be interesting 🤔😂
@Brainsbeforebeauty Hmm...
See don't sound so bad does it 😂
I guess it could work... Maybe...
Lol. Glad I could add some amusement to your day, @AmandaYVR. ;)
The whole social media and online “ dating has caused folks to pretend to be something they aren’t, but it always gets revealed on the first physical date. Men expect Barbie doll sexpots and women are always wanting a “ real man” whatever the Fock that is. We are all real and all different just like women. Honesty is always the best policy, from filling in your profile to in person dates.
We are given way too many options on dating sites, we'll for women anyways. So à lit think they will find their perfect prince charming, which doesn't exist. Mostly likely would of been a good match with someone that isn't perfect. I personally read the profile to see their intrests. And look at their photos. Then decide based if the bio. I maybe or seem picky, but I know what I want. Others do not seem to know. So unfortunate these dating sites. I think I'll give it up forever. Waste of time.
yes look at the positives, faults can be either talked about or dismissed,
👍👍
I think social media has given everyone ridiculously high expectations.
Right!!!
Yep and online dating made it worse. It's something that your generation didn't have to deal with. That's one aspect our generation had it worse.
👍👍
The problem is some people value themselves so much even that they are totally worthless, they think they can get someone with their high standards while they are the lowest one themselves
Right
Sometimes nowadays for sure because people divorce too quickly
Right!
Yes I know this girl she’s not too attractive but I recommended a dating app to her and she says all guys that talk to her were ugly. But I’ve seen them on her phone and they weren’t. She also has super high standards with guys
Girls 100% be picky, I mean I'm not very photogenic but I'm quite handsome and get looked at quite a bit irl.
On tinder tho, oooh, they do be skipping, I dont know what they thinkin but damn they got some high standards.
I'm swiping like on anyone that looks remotely nice
In some sense.. i think so. If one argument happends many people see it as a fight and feel like they need to fly. I guess the communication skills are downgraded these day and age. Normal communication and discussing is hard for many.
Obviously some most likely have. As for myself I'm not even looking at this point in time.
Me neither
Social media and cell phones and movies have made girls think that they all deserve 25 year old brad Pitt regardless how nothingness they’ll bring to the table and no matter how lazy, or out of shape they are they’re still delusion.
This ingredients is for disaster of course these girls and not going to be 20/24 forever when they pass their 30s they lose 99.9% of the options that they had in men.
And men think they supposed to get Barbie dolls and play boy bunnies
In my opioion ita because they aren't willing to accept what they dont want.
People have become nitpicky because times have changed, values are different, and people see things way differently. An example is that, Marriages don't even last as long anymore and there is always divorce as a solution to many people's problems.
Prole should work out their problems instead of just getting divorced at the drop off a hat
Exactly i could undrstand if you leave because of cheating and abuse but just because you guys are laziness, bored or dont have a spark anymore thats dumb. I think selfserving people shouldn't married, the people who dont care to fix an issue.
I agree
Usually those who complain that they can't find anyone are usually the most nitpicky
Right!
I think so I think everyone should have standards just realistic ones
Exactly!!
I don't know. I haven't looked for a partner in a lot of years.
Me neither
Times have definitely changed, Brains. Wasn't like this when i was younger
Definitely wasn't like this when I was younger either
Yeah. My GAG age is different that what it says on my birth certificate
Why is that?
It’s the internet. Most dangerous place on earth
It's due to social media and quotes or "relationship goals" posts implanting others thoughts into anothers mind. Giving others unrealistic expectations when entering a relationship
People who keep posting relationship goals usually have never been in a relationship.

What people? I don't see this in the people I know.
Me neither, but see a lot of it on here
I don't know. I have been with the same partners for 3 years. So guess I'm nitpicky?
How is that Nitpicky?
Better thanks
I was reading where sex robot sales have been steadily increasing over time. Just Google it and there are a lot of articles. As technology improves it wouldn't surprise me that they will replace our significant other.
I think so.

Yes, particularly women.
I see so many who are in thier late 30's 50-80 lbs overweight, acting like she deserves a man who is 6' tall, makes 6 figures and has a 6 pack.
Total lack of self awareness.
I see so many men in their 30's with a beer belly and man boobs expecting a Barbie doll or Playboy bunny 🙂
